Re Nimitz ...........................

Recommended Posts

G'day George,The Avisim server wouldn't allow me to upload any pics in my reply to your post so I've started a new thread. Thanks for the update re Nimitz. I have been looking for this for a while and had finally convinced myself that it was only in the original Fly! :-) Thankfully I was wrong.A new addition for the carrier.Cheers,Roger

G'day Steve,Great work with the carrier! Looks better than the original :-)Just remove the Teflon coating off the deck :-lolORfit arrester wires. The Gannet is only a static model. Just adds a bit of colour to the drab liveries of the default aircraft on the carrier.Cheers,Roger

Hi Roger, thanks you love the AircraftCarrier (ACC), too. Steve made one big step into the right direction, we can try some landings and starts (without steam cat). Is difficult, as we have no optical landing help as from a real world ACC.Do make it more realistic, we can select some wind to help us. It is not unrealistic as the carrier moves against the wind.I think 30 knots might be a good value (???), virtual ACC speed + windspeed. Then also a Cessna with bad brakes might be able to stop on the flight-deck.We could also make the ACC to a moving object as my friend Cord did for me with some of Bibers ships several times. BUT!!! I noticed that objects when they are converted to MOVING objects aren't hardened anymore. What a pity?Might be there is a solution for that over the time, ROTW???And I like your Gannet very much, I saw one in a local museum as the German navy used them in the past. When you let us download your static model I will ask Steve to make a German livery for it.And Roger, let your aircraft FLY! at last. Take the time, at last you'll be satisfied. There is much help in this forum. I am struggling for nearly a year with my Landsat7 program for FLY! though there are other methods available now. People might thing I am a fool. But if something found your interest, nothing is better than doing it yourself. And nobody thinks your first aircraft should have ROTW or F2FDesign quality - just do it for yourself and we all have the profit, at last.RegardsGeorg HeliFLYer EDDW

Hi Steve, can't wait until this evening. But my wife is very satisfied about the time as I NOW have to do some REAL work in the house after posting so much. But one question left - isn't it a new model which we can place with the FLY! editor anywhere?RegardsGeorg

Hi Georg :-wave Check your email!Sadly, this fix is only " a fix" as, you have to add the new deck yourself, or myself in different areas people want the new Nimitz at.There is no way to attach this to the current model that I know of without the original makers files. I have sent you the test for the Nimitz with Hard Deck and a few extras on it ;-) If anyone wants the Nimitz in an area they like to Fly I will gladly do it for them. As some who are not familiar with the editor may find it hard to apply correctly. My best bet is to make a few different pods were the Nimitz could be. I have placed the first one at KSFO like you did :-) Its simple installation of one pod in the scenery/shared folder.PS. I will be uploading a Nimitz fix and extra models pack for those who can do it themselves. Im making more crew for the Deck :-) All the best, Steve. My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orgF2FDesign Websitehttp://www.f2fdesign.com/ My Fileshttp://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+View http://www.wrexhamspace.org/sig.jpg

G'day Steve,< where else would you like to see the Nimitz 3 ? > Mine's in the middle of Botany Bay just off the end of 34L YSSY, but I plan to move it to Sydney Harbour. We have had a visit from the "big E" in Sydney Harbour so I'm on safe grounds placing the Nimitz there.Botany Bay has an average depth of only 9 ft !! Great for flathead but lousy for manouvering a ship the size of a carrier :-)Cheers,Roger

G'day George,>And I like your Gannet very much, I saw one in a local museum>as the German navy used them in the past. When you let us>download your static model I will ask Steve to make a German>livery for it.It was a toss-up as to which livery I used. I very nearl did the Federal Republic of Germany but I guess my personal bias prevailed :-) and I ended up doing the Aussie one.I will upload the static Gannets (fixed wing and folded wing) very soon. Just want to correct a bit of texturing.>And Roger, let your aircraft FLY! at last. Take the time, at>last you'll be satisfied. There is much help in this forum. The Gannet is produced using TrueSpace 3.2 and at the present it cannot fly (with any animation). I'm well aware of all the great help. I've certainly used it a lot :-lol>But if something found your interest,>nothing is better than doing it yourself.>And nobody thinks your first aircraft should have ROTW or>F2FDesign quality - just do it for yourself and we all have>the profit, at last.My philosophy precisely! :-)Cheers,Roger6nm SSW YSSY

Hi.By coinsidence I made a "test carrier" last year.It don't look as great as the other one,but it's solid as a rock.No sink through. But hard to land on if you'r not using a copter :) Not sure if I will continue developing it though. To busy with the S61,and other "projects".Take care.Janhttp://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/bannerjh.jpg

Hi Jan,for the sake I am so impertinent to ask you for either uploading it as a n early BETA or giving the files free for Steve or other to put on some aircraft and other details. Your ACC looks really usable and as you can read there are at least a few people (Roger, Steve, Me) very interested in that stuff. It could solve all problems we have now (no free placing/ only a runway hardened, not the whole flightdeck/no sources available for further development).I really beg you for that because you have no time now to develop and it could be the basis for different aircraft carriers! Thanks a lot in advanceGeorg HeliFLYer EDDW

Hi Georg. The carrier was made with Abacus FSDS.Not sure if anyone can use the files without having that program. The carrier is so ugly I can't upload it,even as an Alpha. But I can send it to you by mail, and then you can do whatever you like with it.Is that OK?So longJanhttp://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/bannerjh.jpg

Now back to the helo-front. :-beerchugAnd as I can do with it, whatever I like I will mail it to Steve, Roger and other people interested, just drop me a mail or post here! I check the forum regularly. And is there anyone out there who knows Abacus FSDS or what to do with the files so that they can used for further development?Thank you once againRegardsGeorg HeliFLYer EDDW
