PMDG Aircraft still available?

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Two days ago I bought and installed PDMG's 777. It seem to be fully compatible with ROTW's DVD. It also seems very frame rate friendly and come with a 240 page PDF manual. My friend Norman (a THIRD guy that wants FLY 2) was dying to try it out. I only had Acrobat reader 4.0 and 5.0 is required to read the manual. 4.0 wasn't apearing on my add/remove programs list and I wanted to get rid of it before installing Acrobat 6.0 (the highest version windows ME supports). Norman helped me out but since I had had no chance to read the manual we autostarted and were flying. (NOT my usual modus operandi!!!) I offloaded fuel and guessed at a rotation speed of 140 knots. To make a long story short I am very pleased with my 39.95 purchase after one short flight. We were at LIMF in Italy, it remains to be seen how my low end system will like the 777 and ROTW scenery combined. But now I have a heavy with a complete cockpit true to type.Life is GOOD.:-wave

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!You just have to scroll down a bit, I saw the 757 v2.2 on Alejandro's link. What has me mystified is the available 777 upgrade for $15.00. No details as to contents. I downloaded the "full package", was everything in the upgrade included? Asked PDMG about it cuz I can't find a "contact us" link for Shareware. Also saw a link to "PDJ 747-400 and 200" but it didn't say for what sim. Wouldn't it be great if PDMG sold components like fully functional FMC's and autopilots with IAS and Mach hold for use in planes like the Hawker or the Avanti? You could get the plane from a freeware developer but to get full functionality you would have to buy components from Shareware. Or have the 777 already installed to share components. just a thought...P.S. Steve you got mail- I replied direct.:-wave

I bought it from the site several months ago. The file size for the 777 is 21,7 MB (22.814.503 bytes). No problems at all.It was worth every penny!

By the way... can someone please help me with the correct SID's and STAR's for the 777. I downloaded the 0403 pack from simvol.org, but I keep getting HDG errors. (I didn't used to have those, I reinstalled Fly!, all the nescecary updates, the AIRAC update and the SID's and STAR's update (most 'recent' 0403), yesterday) Thanks in advance

G'day Guys,I apologise for not being around for a while, new server, work etc..An ethical question for you to ponder. If a company fails to provide any support, for a product it no longer maintains, and has offloaded said product onto the open market, does the first company still own the rights to the product?Secondly, if a member has the said product, what factors stop that person from releasing the product into the domain without any financial gain?RegardsAndy

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Well a lot of people think that way. I had no qualms about sharing FLY 2 with my friends. Before I actually did any extra installs I found out Take Two was selling copies of it which to my knoweledge it had not been comercially available for years. I think whether they support it or not is beside the point. They spent money to develop it and are making some percentage of return on it. If PDMG or Take Two see a demand some things might happen we all eagerly desire. That demand will NOT be seen if it is distributed thru channels other than Shareware.com. The fact these products are available at all is a step in the right direction. I would strongly advocate the development if possible of aplications that enable utilization of PDMG components in other aircraft. For instance if someone has the 777 in their hangar, they would be able to use aircraft from freeware developers that have fully functional FMC's and autopilots plus realistic autothrottle and autobraking.I say anything NOT comercially available is fair game. But such is no longer the case with FLY 2 and PDMG products. The best thing we can do to keep FLY 2 alive- and maybe facilitate FLY 3's birth- is NOT to avoid paying for comercial products and supporting freeware developers.Best Regards, Donny:-wave

Hi Guys,As most of you are aware.........theres a very special and loyal fan base here in the Fly forums, which still continues to develop FlyII either as specialist teams or as individuals. Its because of this development, that people now seek the need for specialist aircraft with workable systems which can be flown on-line using (Live ATC). I personally feel that FLY's pinnacle and interest was when heavies were being developed and available for purchase and its a real shame that this is no longer the case.As we all know the reluctance to development these aircraft for FLYII was simply a matter of potential market sales not being enough to cover the many, many hours of develpment required to package and sell these products sucessfully. Please DON'T hold this against them. PMDG is a very hard working group of people who develop fantasic products and they still keep an eye on these forums regularly. With this in mind I'm sure that many of your request and thoughts have been noted and If anything can be done........well I'm sure we'll be the first to know.Kind RegardsJohn

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Below the 777-200 IGW "Full package" is an upgrade available for $15.00. I couldn't find a contact for Shareware.com to inquire, so I asked PMDG about the contents. The response was that the 777 on Shareware is the latest version. I assume from that that the upgrade is from a previous version. I fully understand that support is not available, but Shareware is doing themself a disservice with limited product info. I would gladly get the upgrade if I knew it provided enhanced functionality to the "full package", and if it doesn't, people who own previous versions might want it.Does anyone know the facts on the upgrade?Best Regards, Donny:-wave

Donny,I can't remember the specifics now (it's been a long time), but I think it had something to do with the release of the 757 and a new EXE from TRI. If you install it, just make sure that you don't overwrite the latest EXE.Take care,http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/banneraa.jpg

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!I took another look at the e-mail from PMDG. It said "the PACKAGE that I believe Sharewareoreder.com is carrying is the latest version of the 777". Paradoxbox mentioned he owned a 777-ER. Could it be an upgrade from that to the IGW? I strongly suspect that, and if true, it would be a waste of money for those who bought the "full package". Thanx for the answer, Alejandro. I'm giving you time to catch up on the default bug reports...Best Regards, Donny:-wave

Hi, 777-200ER is the 777-200IGW. Boeing renamed the IGW to ER a few years ago- so it should be the same plane.I think the upgrade was for people who owned the original 777 for Fly! 1, and then bought the Fly!II 777 at a reduced price. But I may be mistaken here.However-- Last week I accidentally ordered the 757 from that page you guys are talking about- it's not the Fly!II version. Arg! Still trying to sort that mess out. Really wishing I could buy the 757 from somewhere. I am baffled as to why they'd leave the 777 up but take the 757 down forever.CheersCory

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!My question about the contents of the upgrade was forwarded to another member of the PMDG staff. Apparently not everyone there is sure about Sharewareorder.coms right or permission to distribute PMDG products for FLY 2.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116956.htmlEDIT: I posted the mail, but QUICKLY deleted it when I realised it included both our e-mail addresses.Paul Gollnick of their legal department forwarded my message asking Robert Randazzo "how should I handle this and what is are (misspelling his) support level on this?"FW from Robert: Donald-We have not responded to your request yet as we are still trying to determine from whom you purchased this product. (I clearly said sharewareorder.com) PMDG took our FLY and FLY 2 products off the market and removed them from our site as of Feb of 2004. As such, we have been surprised that a few of you have reported purchasing products from a shareware vendor, as these products are not sold by or sanctioned for sale by PMDG. We are currently working to contact this vendor to determine precisely what the context of these purchases are, but beyond that we really have no further information at this time.
