King Air Will Not Stall???

Recommended Posts

Guest dajackman

After getting my CH Products Throttle Quadrant I have been flying the twins more. I have been spending time learning the King Air again. Last night I was unable to get the thing to a full stall. I tried flaps down, gear down- no go. The stall horn was sounding but all I could get was a gentle nose drop, she would pick up a little air speed and start a slow climb again. I even tried setting the trim 100% up, with full elevator, throttle at idle. Anyone have any ideas?Side note, I found a good resource for King Air info. It is for "the other" sim but a lot of the posts are from real King Air pilots. Have a look see.....http://www.aeroworx.com/forum/index.phpIn their download section you can get a copy of thier POH full of usefull info. Thanks in advance for any help

I have not checked the b200, but make sure that you have full elevator travel. I am not sure what kind of stall behavior you expect. From my flying days, a good airplane will drop the nose and as soon as the stick is neutralized, the plane picks up speed, you pull back on the stick and recover. Of course, if the stick is held back, the plane will continue to drop with the nose facing the ground. It sounds like you've done things correctly. I suppose the flight model data needs some adjustments.tony

G'day,I'm with Tony on this one. I don't know what the stall behaviour of the King Air is but if you are getting a nose drop then in you can consider that as a mild stall. Not all aircraft drop a wing and go into a vicious spin on stalling? Im having a similar problem with the Jabiru. It's quite happy to fly straight and level at 40 Kts ias and if I reduce power it just mushes in a stalled condition.Cheers,Roger
