Formation dll improved : TRI generics allowed

Recommended Posts

Guest laurentC

Hi all,I somehow fixed the F16 gear rendering and I took advantage of this solution for the rest of the TRI generic AC rendering. In other words, you can now, record a flight with an aircraft and then modify the produced NFO file with a TRI generic aircraft(aka ACGENRIC.POD), or any other plane that hits those standards.[http://balloon.flightsims.perso.cegetel.net/FLY_FORMATION1.html]Click V1.0.6b linkTwo examples are also provided : a sort of refuelling tanker t/o from ROW and gets a steady route to allow any training and the same flight with a F16 (NB :TRI generic F16).Click TRI_GENERIC_AC linkIf you want to fly the F16 formation flight below you should first install Vigetti's F16.Cheers,laurentC (rotw)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123569.gifhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123570.gif

Thank you very much, Laurentfor the new and improved version of your Formation-DLL.With the F16 all works ok here, I recorded a more dynamic flight and did some interceptions (one with the F16 and re-recording and one with the Eurofighter and the two AI F16).That was much fun, I like more the Eurofighter with the side-views and the speed-brake as it is very difficult with the F16 to speed down and have the other aircraft inside only with gear out and no sideviews (at least I have NO sideviews with the F16 :-( )It is a pity I cannot record the Eurofighter, I'll get a CTD, but you told us the limits!Merci beaucoup againGeorg HeliFLYer EDDW

Glad to please you, Georg,I also had another idea ... what about adventure challenges ?Imagine : record a bush plane with a failure in the desert ... have a quick landing and wait for the rescue team ...You now need to find this plane knowing its last position, wind direction and speed ! (you can also send distess signals with the proper dll : an old one at simvol site)Or, a ship starts from a known position (lat-lon), we know its speed and main direction and we must intercept it ...BTW : I gave an example how to model a ship with this dll (see H-SHIP example at http://balloon.flightsims.perso.cegetel.ne...ORMATION1.html)Basically I recorded a sea flight at 10-15 knts with the stearman on floats then changed the stearman model with the H-SHIP smf file. Hi Laurent, very, very nice ideas.I just started with your sample and it works fine - but the boat is sinking into the water while advancing the route (not fully, but funny looking). Do you have the same effect?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123741.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123742.jpgAnd there is another question. Is there any possiblity that one can use other aircrafts like the Eurofighter for recording? There is a LOD file in the POD for all versions.Anyway, this late night I'll realize your suggestion, take a Cessna, load Metar-Weather, FLY! some unknown region (but with good custom scenery to get landmarks), have to go down due to engine-failure, report compass-course and some visible landmarks to rescue-team.Then start the Dauphine for rescue mission. If it is a mountainious unknown area and you have some nice side-wind it won't be so easy to find the plane although you flew it yourself. That is the adavantage against doing a fixed scenery. Every time there is a new challange!Thank you so much, Laurent!RegardsGeorg HeliFLYer EDDW

Hi Georg,No, the ship doesn't sink but, I'm currently preparing a "normal" ship that will be used like a "normal" plane (selected in the aircraft models) to ease the path recording and all the copy and past ...I will also prepare an example with the eurofighter.Cheers, laurentC

Hi all,By any means, this has been a busy day for me and I couldn't prepare all the things I was thinking of.Anyway, at the very least, I could achieve the EF2000 example (file below).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123786.zipHere it is ... and btw : a very beautiful bird !Cheers, laurentC (rotw)

Hi Laurent!1. How could you manage to make this? If I try to record the Eurofighter I get a CTD everytime!2. Any idea where Giorgio Gnesda has gone? And his Boeing project for FLY!?3. The Eurofighter model is pure fun but the flightmodel is far from perfect - Giorgio knew that but he did not create it himself and could not correct it.The bird flies somehow like a lame duck if you know his abilities (very fast roll rate and agility). So I did a very quick and dirty hack - only use it for flying the bird by hand as you'll see some strange oscillations of the rudders when switching the autopilot on.But although I could not get the real roll-rate this hack is nearer to it. Put the *.mix into the world folder and enjoy it.RegardsGeorg HeliFLYer EDDWBTW: did you hear the real story of the 2 American F15 which tried to frighten a British Eurofighter over GB? The British pilots accepted the game and after some maneuvers the Eurofighter was behind (!) the 2 F15 and killed them (virtually).Ok, the F15 is a very old fighter but as it was told the American pilots were a little astonished about the bad game (for them) :-)

Hi Georg,I can't automatically get the EF2000 NFO file too (as well the F16 or the generic TRI AI), so I have to adjust it manually (the F16 is a little bit complicated because it is a generic AI and also a user a/c) like a generic AI jet, that is, for example, with the FLY2737 gvew 0 AI Model 1 1 <_LOD> - FLY2W737.lod <_SVH> FLY2W737.svh <_AMP> BUDDY_FORMATION.amp <_WHL> BUDDY_FORMATION_TRI_GENERIC.whl <_ELT> BUDDY_FORMATION.elt <_ENG> BUDDY_FORMATION_TRI_GENERIC_JET.eng <_PSS> BUDDY_FORMATION_TRI_GENERIC_JET.psswhere I use generic files for wheels (whl), engine (eng) and pitot (pss). These generic files are podded in the associated formation dll POD file and you can use them at leisure for any NFO jet file.I haven't had any news from Giorgio since a long time ... I will send him an e-mail and wait for any news ...Thanks for the mix file, really appreciate it.Cheers, laurentC (rotw)

Hi there,Just to say I improved the formation dll version (1.0.8) and it goes to show that NFO files are automatically adjusted now (or almost in many of the cases).Furthermore, I also added a ship user model that one can move around if needed in any adventure ... select it in the aircraft selection dialog.(AI_SHIP_POD)Cheers,laurentC (rotw)
