Your New Jersey airport series are a delight for me. Many years ago I had an ercoupe stationed in Rhode Island. I remember one day,on Christmas, dropping my wife on Long Island McArthur, and continuing on to Princeton airport, where an old friend of mine lived. The Ercoupe had no radio to speak of, so dead reckoning was the way to fly. The problem when flying west was the low sun and the smog. I remember flying and hoping that at the right moment, when looking down, I could see the airport. Sure enough, I saw the runway and quickly set up for landing.Princeton Airport was a small field with grass all around the runway.Upon touchdown, I noticed that my brakes were not doing much to bring the plane to a stop, so I steered the plane into the grass and brought it to a stop. the ercoupe was built in th 40's, and its weak brake system reflected the practice of landing on the grass. tony

Tony,I recall some Ercoupes at the little field I flew out of in northern Illinois. Wasn't the Ercoupe the one with the rudder and ailerons both coupled to the wheel - it literally had no rudder pedals?

Yes, Randall. The ailerons were connected to the rudders. This was done in order to reduce the probability of a stall during slow turns( ailerons in one directions and rudders in the other). One gets used to this quite easily, and it was a fun airplane--two seater side by side and and a sliding 360 view canopy.tony

I have six more airports to do in New Jersey.I am going back and completing airports in states where Fly has them so that the FLYers have airport scenery throughout the state.So far I have completed:New HampshireConnecticutDCDelawareIf any of you FLYers out there want me to work on a state, let me know.

Hi Wayne,You've already done most of the airports I use in Oregon and Washington. Still wouldn't mind a Coeur d Alene (KCOE) Idaho and some of the airfields around Kalispel... you did KFCA already.Glad to be back FLYing,Zane
