Recommended Posts

I'm new to simming on Mac and wondering if it's possible to use pc scenery downloads for FLYII on Mac. I tried a Toronto file but it required a tool which could only run on pc.

Welcome Bucky,Most scenery files are cross-platform as long as they consist of two files that would look like this for the imaginary area called "Fishbait":fishbait.podfishbait.scfThese go in your Scenery folder. There is some newer airport scenery with moving models that I haven't gotten to work on the Mac yet. Before using any add-ons, you need to edit the file in Fly's system folder called fly.ini. Find the line that readssearchPodFilesFirst=1and change the 1 to 0.Most add-ons are compressed to a .zip format. Stuffit Expander and similar Mac decompressors will get you going.

Thank you for mthe info. I'm trying to use a scenery file for Toronto which calls for Ground Type Transformer and another requiring GroundImporter. I believe the first utility is PC and I haven't found the second. Any Ideas?

Most Fly utilities were never written from the Mac--they're done by private individuals who share their work, and most of them are on PC.Either installing Virtual PC on the Mac or taking the files and utility to a real PC is about the only way I know of.Take heart, in that the kind of scenery problem you have is the exception rather than the rule.
