Anyone interested in porting mapper.dll over to Mac?

Recommended Posts

As a second to Laurent's posting earlier for the Seneca, curious is anyone has the skills to port the mapper.dll which is used to enable the mixture lever on a joystick/yoke/quadrant over for use as a condition lever on the turboprops. This PC dll has been a real boost to flying realism with the turboprop models and should be available for the Mac as well.Zane

Zane,As you can tell, the traffic here is sparse, to say the least. I check in here every week or two, but it's been a long time since I even ran Fly! (I'll probably give it a try on a dual G5 when I eventually get around to buying one next year - the hardware improvements thus far haven't been that compelling to me.)Still, maybe there's someone out there who can do the port...-Franklin------------------------------Franklin TesslerDP 800Fly! for Mac Co-moderator

Can this be done using Code Warrior by Metrowerks?

Zane, I have the program, but do not know if it can be used for this purpose. I have not used Code Warrior for several years and would have to go through the learning process again. If you, or someone in the Fly community knows how to do the conversion I would send the program to them.

FWIW, I think CodeWarrior was the "recommended" compiler for the Fly SDK on Mac. I have no experience with it, this is just based on my recollections from years gone by. You might want to try searching through the AVSIM library for Mac DLLs and get in touch with the authors. If nothing else works, you could try to track down Rob Minnis (he's no longer at TRI though) for advice.Chris WallaceOttawa, Canada

Thanks, Chris. I did as you suggested and found that Matthew Horridge used Code Warrior to convert a dll for use with the MAC.I will have to load the program and see if I can remember how to use it.Would you by chance know if Matthew is still around? I will post in the main forum and see if I receive a reply.

Hey Wayne,No, I haven't heard from Matthew in quite a while...a year or more at least. It shouldn't be too hard to find out generally how to create a DLL (or whatever they're called on the Mac) in the CodeWarrior documentation or on the web. The Fly SDK doc, Rich's sample programs and the samples uploaded here are good sources of working source code for DLLs, and of course post if you have specific problems or questions...Good luck!Chris WallaceOttawa, Canada
