Interesting Flight Anomaly with Steve's Cessna 182

Recommended Posts

would want to own!)However, I have run across a curiosity: four times in a row (between game restarts), at some point in identical flights (weather, wind, time of day, flight profiles), it has lost power. Cruise would be around 140 KTAS (Knots TRUE airspeed), and after an altitude change power would suddenly decrease, and I'd watch the digital airspeed (ground speed) wind down past 116 KTAS while at cruise power, or about 80% power. On a hunch, I turned "Engine Failures" to "OFF" in the OPTIONS, and now the aircraft flies perfectly!Anyone flying the 182 notice similar behavior? (Yes or No answers appreciated).Dan

Hi Dann,I think you will find that it's carb iceing.Even though there is no carb heat switch on the panel if you press the "h" key on your key board and wait a short while you should see a improvement in engine performace and your speed will start to increase again. I was caught out whilst taking off early morning with hardly any climb performance.I have trouble remembering if I have it turned on or off.Give it a go.Peter.

Interesting! I'll give that a try...but it was during normal weather.Steve, is there a way to disable that? The 182 (and new 172's) are fuel injected, and not suseptible to "carb icing."Dan

Sorry, but I have no idea. I am just an artist and have no ability where programing is concerned. Maybe somebody else can answer the question and/or upload a new flightmodel for it. Steve
