Anisotropic filtering

Recommended Posts

I don't now where exactly on the screenshot you mean..?I can see a blurry square just to the right of the 3D buildings, but it looks more like a texture that hasn't fully been loaded when I took the shot. The FU3 textures take a while to go from coarse detail into better detail, especially when you change from interior to external view.

>Paul, >>FU3 does use the Direct3D API. >>Chris Low, >ENGLAND.Thanks,I believe your observations are correct, clearly those shots indicate no level of AF ,some programs can be "hard coded" as far as what filtering or other graphic settings can be "used" even though you set the driver to "overide", it sometimes just doesn't allow for it. Weren't there FU*.ini files or cfg files that can be altered to allow for some "custom" settings, or perhaps I'm thinking of PP? Don't give up Chris, theres gotta be a way.Take Care,

Paul,Jimmi has a point when he says that the blurred texture may simply be that he has taken the screenshot before the highest resolution texture has loaded (or whatever it is that FU3 does when it displays textures). If you do discover any special configuration settings that can activate anisotropic filtering, then let me know !Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Then I hope we can look forward to some new shots posted showing the clear anistropicly filtered textures.>If you do discover any special configuration settings that can >activate anisotropic filtering, then let me know !Sorry Chris I cant help there as I can only assist you at the driver level and if it needs to be overridden in FU somewhere then you are on your own as sadly FU has not been on my hard drive for quite some time and the software is now some where in Brooklyn or Long Island floating about on my young nephews machine.

Peter,Do you have any reason for thinking that the Detonator 30.30 drivers will solve this problem ? Also, can you tell me what that second link is actually for ? I would prefer to know what I am downloading before I download it !!!Chris Low,ENGLAND.

HI Chris. The second link is the tweaker for videocards on base nVidia chipset.I have instaled detonator v 30.30 and I am using the tweaker.Try set aniztropic filtering with the tweaker. I tried Anisotropic filtering 64-tap and 2x AA and my fps was 15-20 FPS. The fu3 seems nice with those settings.PeterP.S. Sorry for my poor english.

"I assume that this must be the case, because neither the framerate nor image quality changes at all. Only the 4xS anti aliasing seems to reduce texture shimmering."You should disable FSAA, and then experiment with the Anisotropic filtering. That way you should easily be able to see if aniso is working or not. With 4XS mode, the FSAA is already helping a great deal with the shimmering textures, so adding aniso will only make a subtle difference. Without FSAA, but with full Aniso, the edges will still shimmer, but the textures should not. Once you're sure Aniso is working, you can add the FSAA again.
