Taking a leaf (!?) from Rob's book, here are a couple of snaps from the weekend ;-kewl Headed down to the Botanical Gardens to see the season's foliage. Can't figure out how they grow palms so well in Seattle :-ohttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d853280685618e8.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d8532ea693b3ae9.jpgMan, you could get lost in here...http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d85334b6a145f33.jpgGot back and someone's been busy with the garden at Clare's Valley!http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d8533f56b78e8b9.jpgAnd a branch of Glidernut's school has just popped up!http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d8534886cdd0c58.jpgBTW, I've just uploaded 54 trees for you all to enjoy. amazing! That looks just as good, if not better, than the FS2002 autogen trees (even with the updates).Look like Chris the scenery wiz' will have to go back to work and replace all the trees in the scenery with the new ones :-lol

Fantastic!!!Why not post some of this in the "screenshot forum",so that the public can see how a real flightsimulator should look like??.:-hah This seems to be better than any other "Free sceenery addons" so far. It's amasing.Keep up the good work!Lars Peter.>:-)

Well Rob, I owe it all to you :-)I know I'd said '10 or 12 trees in 2 stages of growth' but once I got started, I couldn't stop :-hah The trick was to use different 'e' files for each height and just edit the gif filename before running it.Last night I tried a fire extinguisher but the model uses 'phong' shading for reflections and, whilst the 3ds2e.exe gave me a recognisable file, bsp.exe fell over with the textures (I tried two different bsp.exe files - a different one comes with the JAS tools). I removed the textures and applied external gifs but then it fell over on line 145(!) when it was 'expecting a control block' :-grr I then realised that the model uses heaps of polygons and wouldn't be suitable anyway. I don't dare try the VW again for the same reason. It looks great (although, wrongly sized, it's about 5ft long) but causes 'complete simulation engine stoppage' once placed (ie framerates ;)On the screenshots, I'll do some more tonight - the only problem with the Botanical Gardens is that they aren't near anything (except SEA) so the background looks a bit sparse. I might put a few things on the opposite slopes to busy it up a bit :-) Clare's Valley is pretty busy but you can't capture the mood of the place without the moving herds of cattle and cars (and a thin dirtbike!) heading up and down the roads. I'll see how it turns out.Jon Point*************************(effyouthree@hotmail.com)*************************
