Shots of my Last attempt at Gee Bee paint

Recommended Posts

Guest Staggerwing

Just found my samples from GeeBee paint practice before I gave up on the base model. Thought they might serve as good example of the problems involved with basic build..These were more of an exercise in "what does what" and not a full attempt at a finished product. I didn't even finish moving them around to fit better after seeing that the "mirror" was all wrong side to side, front to back and top to bottom.Note the engine detail is also the landing gear "pants" texture.I have since made much better textures for it, but did not want to waste time fitting them to a model that doesn't support them well. Here's what happens:http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3db80ebf7af16178.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3db80ec87b2f5fb9.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3db80ecf7b576f77.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3db80ed67b6c6e43.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3db80ede7b888dbf.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3db80ef77b9f4ffb.jpg

Staggs,Yeah, looks pretty crazy huh? It's to do with the texture mapping in the 'e' file. I have been working on it for a couple of days now. The strange blue bit on the tail is 'texture 13' which I can't find any mapping info for but it's there - if you delete the texture key, you get a transparent section :-(I'm working on the fuselage first 'coz it's close (one side perfect)and has the most polygons (hard). I just have to change the mapping slightly for the left side. At the moment the mapping calls up the same texture, just backwards! I'm changing it to pick up the 'other' (left) texture - then it'll look like the real one :-)BTW, Got a great engine texture, tyres OK and a 2-bladed prop - it's a happnin'thaing :-kewlAs soon as I have some proof (screenshots), I'll post them.BTW2, I'me also doing a couple as FU3 models so you can put them on the grass beside your parking spot or even use them as moving models (with the pylons) to make your own pylon race package, complete with flying planes :-eekJon Point*************************(effyouthree@hotmail.com)*************************

GREAT, glad to hear you can make progress with this one :-)Yeah, that blue section is a real puzzle... ??I have been wondering if some Ai could be done to circle the pylons ?All GeeBees but that's okay too... better than having other in FU do it.Keep up the good work ! GeeBeeJim will go nuts :-lol

"Well, let's hope it's an easy one so you don't have to spend TOO much time making it work..."It's OK guys, I am going to release it as a package but I want to know where the best place would be. Anyone got any historical info on racing in Seattle? Otherwise I'll just fins somewhere with a suitable strip - it's just that I don't want to conflict packages. Maybe I'll just call it 'R&K racing' or something?Should go well with my offshore powerboat racing, motocross track and roadrace circuit packages :-kewl http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3db8c8f90237aebf.jpg...as long as the fires stay away :-( From today's SMH, a taste of things to come for summer (it's only October :-eek ).Jon Point*************************(effyouthree@hotmail.com)*************************

I'd have to say at or near Boeing field... not that there was ever any racing there, but seems a natural for FU racing events :-)
