3DFX drivers

Recommended Posts

Hello all.For those who are still using the "3DFX-VOODOO" series graphic cards there is some new drivers available,- and they seems to be really good.New releases for both Win.95/98 and XP is still available.I just installed some new drivers to test it out for both FU3 and FS2002, - including older Racing sims from "UBISOFT" that was made specially for the 3DFX series.Using my VOODOO 5-win98SE, It turned out to run VERY smooth with 4 x aliasing enable and the texture was a lot better than the old originaldrivers.I'm one of those old fassion pilots that don't upgrade my system every 6 month, and rather stick to the old and good as long as I can to prevent unessecarry trouble and costs. My new good driver is:"3dhg voodoo 4/5 windows9xdrivers 1.09 Beta7".(date. 11/19/2002)If you want to try it out you can find it here:http://www.voodoofiles.com/Best regards.Lars Peter;-)

Hi Lars, I agree, but then I apply those very words to the possibility of upgrading drivers as well. I need to be very sure before "upgrading" a driver which has worked fantasticly for a long time.>I just installed some new drivers to test it out for both >FU3 and FS2002, - including older Racing sims from "UBISOFT" >that was made specially for the 3DFX series. >Using my VOODOO 5-win98SE, It turned out to run VERY smooth OK, but what I'd want to know is: in FS2002, do you still need to invert the alpha channel in the reflective textures for them not to look all-chrome, or the new driver has fixed this? Thanks in advance and long live the V5!!

Hi!I have not testet the "chrome" effect in fs2002,so I'm not yet sureabout that, but the ground texture became on my computer more clearand the "dansing clouds" that I used to have now appear normal.Overall It seems to go smoother on my system. So far I will keep this drivers going, and if any unexpected errorsshould appear,I will install the originals again.I will not replace my V5 for a long time.Lars Peter.:)
