Can't Post Unless Firewall Disabled?

Recommended Posts

I've been unable to log in for a couple of days and this may go for some of you guys too. The thing is, Avsim has changed it's log-in procedure to include a "referral to the previous page". If you have Norton Internet Security the default setting is to block "referral" or "information about visited sites". Thus, my 2003 version of Norton started blocking the Avsim log-in until I clicked "permit" for "information about visited sites". There's a thread on the Help Forum that addresses this issue.best regards,Hans Petter

That thread can be found here:http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...D2&viewmode=allHans,You may want to use Privoxy for filtering sites and just have Norton operate as a plain firewall. Privoxy is significantly more flexible and powerful including being able to assign rules and exceptions to specific domains, parts of domains, URLs, etc. The default configuration works great on pretty much everything. You'll just have to add a rule for .avsim.com that turns off referrer forging, GIF animation disabling, and session-only cookies. It's free and runs onAmiga OSLinux (lots of flavors)HP-UXMac OS XOS/2Windows (win32)http://www.privoxy.org/Peter http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/PeterR.gifBFU Forums Moderator
