Of course, painting a T-6 in Navy colors doesn't make it an SNJ... I don't think? Maybe SNJs have tailhooks... I ran MEMTEST for over 4.5 hours. It showed no errors.I popped out the MEMTEST floppy disk, and ESCaped from that program.That initiated a system boot. Which SUCCEEDED for the first time in about four days. Say what? Now, will it succeed again tomorrow morning?I am left wondering about one thing. As I mentioned in message #9 in this thread, I was getting an hourglass when the cursor was over the Task Bar. That's supposed to indicate "I'm thinking." Maybe during that 4.5 hours it got its act together? Windows was not even running, so I wonder. How about your drive's integrity? If you run Scandisk or other defragmenter, do you come up with bad sectors? My previous drive didn't last more than a year. I defragmented it and isolated bad sectors but it kept "fraying" and producing new ones. At the time my tower was sitting on the carpet floor and static and dust may have been the culprits. Since then it sits on a wooden table. Another risk to placing the cabinet under a table is that one may bump into it while the disk is spinning. Hans Petter

That's probably my next step, Hans. After four+ hours of no error in MEMTEST, and a clean boot both yesterday and this morning, I have a feeling the RAM is fine. This drive is very young, just a few months (haven't even received my $60 rebate yet!), but that proves nothing.
