Twin otter over London

Recommended Posts

Some shots of flying over the Thames. These are 3D - some people can see them, some can't. Method is to train left eye to see left pic, right eye to see right pic, by looking into far distance and then bringing the two views of a distinctive object in the pics together. Anyway, you're not missing much if you can't see the 3D aspect - they're low quality pics, designed to work on a monitor at 100% scaling. If there's any interest though, I would be happy to make up some higher quality shots, eg over the Cascades (where this effect works well).First two shots have high 3D effect, middle 2 have just small 3D effect, last one is much larger and harder to see, but stronger effect if you can see 3D.You'll probably recognise the airport, but for Hans Petter's sake, here's a clue. The first two words are 'London City' and the last is 'Airport' (sorry Hans). http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69962.jpgWarming the motorshttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69963.jpgLow pass after takeoffhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69964.jpgLooking back towards domehttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69965.jpgcircling again - view over LCAhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69967.jpgmy "other" beach house when I'm travelling

My guess is London City International Airport. But then, it might also be London City Regional Airport or possibly Municipal. This is hard since they all look much the same. Any more clues? :-)How do you take 3D screenshots? Basically, you need two cameras 10 cm apart shooting the same scene. If I squint for some time I think that I can see a third 3D image appearing between the two. With lots of Australian wine I might see be able to see four :-)Hans Petter

Hans, I forgot to give you the vital clue. The airport name has only three words. My fault of course. Keep trying. And joking aside, since you and I built this one, I think this is a very fine airport! Thanks too Steve! Also (editing this message) - you asked how to make 3D shots. This is what I do (and its probably pretty rough):1) fly plane to camera position2) use CTRL-p to freeze plane3) F5, position camera for first shot. CTRL-ALT-p for screen shot.4) still in F5 view, use cursor (arrow) keys to make smallest possible movement in horizontal plane5) take second shot6) load shots into favourite photo editor. Select subset of view at approx 500 pixels wide (height doesn't matter). Select exactly the same size view at same central position in second shot.7) make a left-right pair as a new picture. Temporary shrink to about 250 pixels width and check the stereo effect is in the right direction (left eye sees correct picture on left etc). Rebuild correctly if necessary.8) Shrink to 250 pixel width, height in proportion. Should work. For long distance scenery shots (no plane in foreground) there is a better way - I'll try and cover that next time, which I'm out of.RobD.RobD
