Gnoss to University

I have just taken a flight in the Beechjet from Gnoss to University in the rain. Nice, easy flight from one Unicom airport to another (they even have the same Unicom frequency)....or so I thought. At a point somewhere between Napa County and Travis AFB, the right engine failed. The engine fire warning light came on, and the Master warning switch started, er.....warning me :-)Anyway, I decided to carry on to University (they don't call me ICE for nothing) ;-) I had to increase the power of the left engine from 65% to around 90% to hold my cruising altitude (all of 2300 feet) :-lolThe plane was pulling severely to the right, so I had to keep the joystick hard over to the left, and bank slightly to maintain the correct course. I suppose that I could have used the left rudder to help me, but that would have been too easy :-)I decided to change frequencies from Travis Approach to University Unicom as soon as I could see my destination airport. Well, I needed to line up with the active runway with plenty of distance to spare. Somehow, I managed to hold final approach without touching the trim controls (what a star) ;-) The touchdown was quite heavy, but fortunately the undercarriage survived the ordeal. I applied the brakes and spoilers instantly, and prayed that the plane would stop before I ran out of runway (I assumed that using reverse thrust with only one engine wouldn't have been a good idea).It worked. I rolled out to the end of the runway, and then made my way to the parking spot. The left engine had to do more work to compensate for the lack of thrust, but I made it.Piece of cake ;-)Chris Low.

I'm not having much luck at the moment. I attempted a flight today from University to Petaluma in the Beechjet. Everything was working fine....until the simulation froze as I was panning around the outside of my plane. I was two thirds of the way into the flight, which was most annoying :-)Anyway, I started the flight again. I had hardly left the ground when the plane started pulling towards the right. Oh dear. I had a fuel leak in the left tank. That resulted in yet another engine failure a few minutes later :-eekI decided to carry on to Petaluma, and I once again made a successful landing. This flying lark is a doddle ;-)Chris Low.

You're going to have to buy more sticky tape for all of these leaks! No, the escort planes was only supposed to work in FU2, and I never really used FU2 by itself, so I don't know if this worked or not, but if you flew into the military airspace around Travis, they were supposed to send a couply of fighters to escort you away.RobD.
