A symptom of icon limit?

Recommended Posts

Guest juvat2

Hi,I've got a new thing happening with my Flt3 install. I did a fresh install(Flt3 w/ FLt2 and outer terrain), applied the patch.Started adding the packages from my old install one package at a time.(I had saved my packages folder prior to uninstalling Flt3). 52 packages altogether. When I add a 53rd package, I start Flt3 to check for problems by starting a quick flt at the newly added package, click on the new icon and cdt. It will also cdt if I grab the notepad and try and drag it around the map. Upon removing the "53rd" package all is well again, I can then quick flt or flt plan in either region with no problems. Is this one of the symptons of the icon limit? Never had this to happen before. The only reason I did a re-install was I had buggered up a retexturing in the outer terrain and decided to re-install to clear it up.You all take care,JimB

Yep, thats' what happens.Another symptom (in Seattle region) is to find all your airports named 'Jefferson County' :-(One work around, that I use, for those out of the way private stripsis to remove the airport source file, fbo.cfs, from the package folder, leave the source folder present and empty though.eg: Packages/Black Diamond/Inner/Seattle/airports/95wa/Source/fbo.cfsTHEN from the airport (Black Diamond folder is 95wa) folder copy the entry in the fbo2.cfg fileit will look like this (Black Diamond again here shown)fbo_center 93950.8 63072.4 172.077into the regions/seattle/poi.txt file like so67758 96936 Space Needle 83868 99404 Microsoft 69032 94162 Kingdome75659 97800 Bill's House109302 13517 Mt. Jim,If you do not use the "extra airports" that LGS included in FU3, then you can remove the relevant folders from the SEATTLE/AIRPORTS folder. These are normally not visible on the Seattle map, but it seems that they still count towards the total number of icons in the region. If you do not know which folders to remove, then let me know.Chris Low.

Can't take all the credit,Glidernut (John) found out its' the Fbo.cfs file which is responsible for the icon appearing, and we both experimented with the poi.txt file :-):-wavePete
