Worse, someone would start a "discussion" about how someone else's marigolds are better.

Actually it shouldn't be called the "Union Jack", because a jack is a flag that is flown on a jackstaff which is a small flag pole on the back of a naval ship. So it should be called the "Union Flag".

Actually, the jackstay is at the bow of the vessel and the Union Flag is sometimes flown at the bow for ceremonial occasions -- then it is called the "Union Jack". The flag that is flown at the stern is the White or Red Ensign (white for military ships and red for merchant).Barry WardLieutenant-Commander RAN (Ret)

They say you can tell a lot about people by what they eat. Considering your previous posting's and knowing what goes into Americas staple diet be it Burger King or Macs. What goes in must come out. George

>To see Concorde pull up from her escorts and soar free into the skies was a sight to behold. There is no aircraft like Concorde to stir the emotions

What happens is that many people around the world, not just americans, don't really understand "royalty".In fact, I believe that if you were to take an extensive survey around the world about the Brits, most people would probably only know about the Queen, double-decker buses, bad teeth and horrible food :-lol :-lol :-lolSource: http://www.austinpowers.com/ :7Guys, behave...Kerke

Well you get KFC & McDonalds in just about every country now - you can hardly hold the Brits responsible !!!!!!!To quote the Python:"How do you become King anyway ??????"(I was going to alter it for the current situation, but I am guessing I couldn't cope with the replies).....

I saw the Desert Storm parade in Washington. That was hair raising and very impressive seeing troops, tanks and armoured vehicles parading in front of the President. About half way through various fighters, including the very quiet Stealth Fighter came out for a fly by.
