Copy Flight Unlimited 2 Scenery to Flight Unlimited 3

Recommended Posts

Guest narf0r

Well here is my next question: If i install FU3, i can choose to install the FU2 Scenery to FU 3 so that i have more scenery. The problem is that my FU2 discs are not in the best state and my cddrive sometimes has problems reading them and aborts the installation. Does anybody know if there is a possibility to copy the FU2 scenery files manually to FU3? And if there is one, how does it work? Which files must be copied into which directories? Would be very nice. :)Chris

Chris,I am not sure if that is possible, but I do know that you REALLY want to get the San Francisco scenery installed. It will not be long before mine and Jon Point's SanFran 2005 add-on pack is released, and that includes one or two upgrades to the scenery that you might appreciate ;-)By the way, do you have any add-ons installed for the Seattle region ? My Seattle 2005 pack is available from the FU3 file library here at AVSIM Online.....if you're interested :-)Chris Low.

I don't know about that, either, and don't really have the time to do a file by file comparison of the FU2 files installed in FU3 against those installed in FU2 to reach a definitive conclusion. What I do know is that if you make the effort to clean up your FU2 disks, and ever succeed in getting them installed into FU3, there's a very easy change you can make to the region.cfg file that's created which allows you never to have to use the disks again for that FU2 scenery add-on.Another alternative would be to buy FU2 again, now that it is pretty inexpensive. Check the where to buy thread.-Seadog

Chris,Ben, or user name {biopak}, cum up with this. This is to install the sanfran region without having to reinstall everything:______________________________________________________________________1. Insert the FU2 disk 1 and navigate to the flt2regions directory.2. Copy the entire folder "sanfran" from the disk into your FU3 folder: "C:flight3regions" (or wherever yours is)3. Go inot the sanfran folder and open up the region.cfg file in a text editor(notepad is fine)4. Copy this into the file:reg_name San Francisco Bay Areareg_cd_path d:sanfranmapsreg_cd_levels 2reg_icon sanfran.gifreg_north 1.27409035reg_utm_zone 10reg_utm_offset 473088 4096000reg_width 10reg_height 11reg_airport sforeg_sealevel 100reg_timezone -8; These are the mappings from world; to pixel coords for region map and vice versareg_map_col1 0.00825624 0.000104323 0reg_map_col2 0.000127584 -0.00821266 0reg_map_col3 463.773 1501.57 1reg_imap_col1 121.097 1.53826 0reg_imap_col2 1.88124 -121.739 0reg_imap_col3 -58986.2 182086 1; These are the mappings from world; to pixel coords for outer terrain map and vice versareg_omap_col1 0.000815094 0.000248067 0reg_omap_col2 0.000248067 -0.000815094 0reg_omap_col3 659.597 1103.66 1.0reg_iomap_col1 1122.84958664767797 341.728967661259552 0reg_iomap_col2 341.728967661259552 -1122.84958664767797 0reg_iomap_col3 -1.11778203155719224e6 1.01384562900170194e6 1; These are the zoom and built in offsets for each levelreg_fbo_map_zoom 3.1668 1.5834 1.0reg_fbo_map_offset 48 0 0 0 0 0; These are for terrain mirroringreg_mirr_x 0 1reg_mirr_y 1 1; These are for terrain resizing from its compressed formreg_reng_scale .03051757;reg_reng_base -33.0reg_reng_base 0; These are the time of day values: 24hr time, Season; 0=Summer, 1=Winter, 2=Spring, 3=Fall.reg_DayTime 14 0reg_NightTime 3 0reg_DawnTime 5 0reg_DuskTime 21 0reg_SunriseTime 6 0reg_SunsetTime 20 0reg_bgrreg_floor_models5.
