More planes will follow :-)we need a lot at Elstree and static planes used from AI.Modells are using too much mip maps and polys. Until now it was not possible to convert back using BIN2E.EXE but now I can create an E-File using a modified version of Gideon's Modelviewer and now we can have simple static planes and not killing the frame rates ;-)This is a no texture Arrow http://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/ArrowC.jpgThe Player Arrow (Ansgar AI) with just 1 mip map and fewer polys http://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/ArrowP.jpgnext will be a static Vigilant :-wave agtim

Ah, Andre :-)Looks just great. SO great, I can't wait to get it! Did you combine any of the models, or just use them separately? I remember trying this to help framerates at Pillar Point in Sanfran and it DID help.I was thinking of doing this for night lighting for UKS. Lay out an elevation for a tile (in 3D) and place small night-textured cubes (or just flat polygons) a small distance off the ground. Using real lights (i.e. @vxxxx or @hxxxx) uses transparency and slows the heck out of FU3, but night light textures are flat and seem to affect framerates less. Each 'model' would be huge, but as each light only need be 1 polygon, one could have up to 2000 in each tile. The day texture would just be a mid-grey or something that blends-in (it could be simply the entire tile texture reduced to 256x256 and placed over the entire model at once). The night texture would just include the relevant night colours. The only problem is getting an elevation tile in 3DS to place them on. If only we could break the night tile range issue :-grrAnyway, I'm glad you made good use of your trip! I found no interesting material in S.E. China but it was interesting to see the new Asian airlines popping up. Also, we don't get a lot of Swissair flights here and I'd never seen this livery! Couldn't make out the text though. It looks more like a 'sticker job' than a real livery, but the tail is still unmistakable ;)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173136.jpgRegards,Jon Point

Hi Jon,Thanks for feedback, I have problems with the frame rate and will try to combine the models. The ground pattern grid is not at the same scale as the elevation grid and is hard to fit.AI will remain at one defined level ( center of runway ) and due to the slope will go underground or float at the end, but Elstree isn't flat and the slope is nice to try landings :-)The ground elements are not flat and so you can't use CTR 5 / CTR 6 to hide models at final then the runway is a 3d model also and will desapear with the other models. The nice thing is there isn't freezing at tuchdown, it's very slow during final until tuchdown, then frame rate goes up again.May be freezing is at tuchdown on flat runwaya only ?!?I have tried 2 model level to get better frame rates using arrow0.bin and arrow1.bin(simple model), but I don't see any switching. You can make 3ds models of the elevation tiles using GeoTilesViewer and the export MD3 function to get a 192 x 192 of the tile as .MD3 directly importable to GMAX. I use this for small terrain modifications. After export from GMAX you can reimport the values to the tile using GeoTilesViewer again. There is a small tutorial on my fu3 page http://www.agtim.ch/fu3/MD3.php3 .Nice picture of a SWISS jet - not SWISSAIR :-( SWISSAIR is dead and closed, they have reopened using her dauthger CROSSAIR and named it SWISS but not for a long time, now SWISS is a daugther of Lufthansa and belongs to Germany and no longer to Switzerland :-( this is the global world.:-wave agtim

Back from Mallorca so work on Elstree is in progress again. :-)Simplified models let me combine 2 to 3 planes as 1 model. This will help against frame rate loss. Here a picture of the last DC3 in Spain at the Son Bonet Aerodrome near Palma. This is very interesting! Elstree is my local airfield where I take my PPL lessons with Cabair. If you would like any help or information give me a shout! Looks great, I might just have to install FU again! :-)

Hi pipersam,Well you need then FU3 and UK region and a strong videocard :-)With a NVIDIA 5200 I must live with 5 fps during final :(using a full populated airfield as usual at Elstree.I am still optimizing polys for a better frame rate after this I will release the airport at the AVSIM lib.Do you know if the Lake Renegade is still flyable ?:-wave Andre

The renegade sadly no longer flies.Have a look at this map. http://www.elstree-aeroclub.i12.com/Materi...Circuit_Map.jpgIt shows the standard circuit patterns used for the runways. Also I would like to point out the "tall building" thats marked on the map. All aircraft approaching runway 26 must advise elstree radio when they pass overhead. Might be neat to include this with your scenery. Its a tower block maybe 20 stories high.Sam.
