Long time FU3 user checkin in - Regarding UK region

Recommended Posts

Guest VFR_Steve

Well here I am again, in the same situation as 3 to 5 years ago...I've got FSX, bought the gen X 1 metre scenery, I've just got active sky X and guess what... I'm still saying to myself,''FU3 feel much more realistic than this''dear o dear... I must like wasting money huh.LaSt year (or was it 2 years ago) a very kind person from this forum by the name of Christian sent me the DVD version of the UK region. I'm sure since then so much has improved, I don't have the whole of England & Wales covered. I was wondering do any of you guys here have it?I don't mind paying you for your trouble.Cheers,Steve

Since FU3 doesn't rely on registry entries we can burn it all to data DVDs and transfer it to another computer. If you fail to find a simmer in your neighborhood who's up to the task I'll check how many disks it takes to get you up and running....Hans Petter

I just checked, we're talking 13.6 GB. I'll split it into three or four DVDs. We'll sort out the mailing address once I'm ready.Hans Petter

Super I'll check my mail now...Yep defintely true, FU3 is still the world class leader when it comes to the feeling of flight... how on earth they have managed it I don't know but it's just fantastic, and every version of FS since has tried to live up to it's atmosphere, flight behaviour, weather, immersion and failed miserably.Flying in FSX is almost like driving a car in the sky.

"Flying in FSX is almost like driving a car in the sky.":-lol :-lol :-lolActually, 'flying' MS anything is like that. "Can the magic of flight ever be carried by words? I think not."I agree. Unfortunately, paying ~$150/hr to hire aircraft hits the budget a bit, and we'll get a new car before I can justify $50000+ for a second-hand plane ("I'm driving a 25 year old car and you want to buy a what?"). My previous experiences with co-ownership taught me to forget that, so it's back to FU3. And talking about it :-rollBTW, to those that wondered what I'm up to, I still fly FU3 a bit but my tinkering has taken a back seat due to a lot of recent travel. I still drag it out when I can though - got some strange looks from security when attempting a foggy final at LCA whilst sitting in a departure lounge at HKS! :-waveRegards,Jon Point

''got some strange looks from security when attempting a foggy final at LCA whilst sitting in a departure lounge at HKS!''Now that's what I call an FU3 enthusiast :D I'm sure a foggy landing in FU3 would make me pull a few funny faces too!! ... MS? I walk in the park

Enthusiast? Probably. Bored? 11 hours in HKS following a 45 minute flight through tropical storms after waiting 3 hours in Baiyun due to weather. I was kinda real glad to make it to HK, but would have been happier if Qantas had a plane out before 9PM :-( Back to the flying: As you know, this is a steep final, and although the DHC-6 is fine for the job, keyboard flying has its drawbacks. In the last few hundred feet I became aware that someone behind was watching, so I paused it and turned around to see 3 security guards standing behind me!!! I pointed at the screen and said "London" - they stared...Eventually I got a smile and a "Rundun!" from one of them. Realising I was in a cold sweat (LCA in fog does that), I decided to leave the departure lounge and get a cool drink!Regards,Jon Point
