Hello,In a nutshell, Bush Flying is operating small, STOL (Short Takeoff or Landing) aircraft into rough and small runways, and in some cases water, mainly lakes. The twist to bush flying is that not only do you have the aviation component, but when you land, you are usually smack in the middle of some of the most beautiful scenery eyes can see.The real challenge (at least for me!) of bush flying is getting your aircraft safely down on those insanely small runways or lakes. Most of the time your runway is surrounded by giant trees, so you have to get enough clearance over them and then, for lack of a better term, dive-bomb down to the runway below. ;-)Oh, and the six hour VFR flights over treacherous mountain terrain might be a little challenging too. :-)There's a bush flying group for MSFS here at avsim: Bush Flying Unlimited. http://www.avsim.com/bfu/Hope this answers your question :-)

"...dive-bomb down to the runway below..."How true, Matthew :-). You've put forward a lovely description of bush flying! One thing I would like to add is that our group BFU (Bush Flying Unlimited) is not limited to FS2002 but is open-sim, and simmers using FU3, Fly!2 ans X-plane can join and enjoy the loose atmosphere of our bush. All the best.

And... in addition to the above..... both in the real world and in the simulated world you get to know some of the nicest people as a 'bonus'. Usually folks that love both flying and nature, and tend to live life in a relaxed and friendly way... ;-) :-outta Francois :-wave

"At home in the wild"[link:avsim.com/alaska/alaska_051.htm|Don's Alaskan Bush Charters]"Beavers Lead the Way"[link:www.avsim.com/vfr_center/mainpages/vfr_flights_main_page.htm]VFR Flight Center]"Looking Good Outside"

http://avsim.com/hangar/air/bfu/logo70.gifhttp://www.fssupport.com/images/moose2.gif

________________________Francois A.
