I had a chance to fly one of those briefly in 1999 in the UK. The thing that impressed me was the quiet of that bird. The wooden fuselage and the fabric covering over much of the aircraft was much different from the all-aluminum Cessnas that I normally fly.Jerry K. ThorneEast Ridge, TN.

Lindy,I must confess that until that flight, neither did I and quite frankly given my pathetic attempts during my turn, I still don't.Great hearing from you.Regards as always,Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern Australiahttp://www.fsd-international.com/images/FSD_beta_tester.jpg[h3] FSD Cheyenne LS400 "Around the world" flight. Now at TJSJ (Luis Munoz Marin Intl.) Hi Jerry,Gotta confess that given my almost frantic attempts at controlling the aircraft in some very "Unusual" attitudes, the sound was something that I did not take much notice of. Having a fixed pitch prop was also a novel experience especially trying to ensure the engine kept running during some of those maneuvers. Luckily I had an extremely experienced instructor by my side.Cheers,Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern Australiahttp://www.fsd-international.com/images/FSD_beta_tester.jpg[h3] FSD Cheyenne LS400 "Around the world" flight. Now at TJSJ (Luis Munoz Marin Intl.) Hi Chris,The next step should be try to get a flight in a Pitts. The roll rate and snap rolls with blow you away. Like someone once said "Flying a Pitts is like having a continuous ....... um culmination" :-wink2I've owned two Pitts. An S-2A and a S-1T and flown them and a S-2B in competition. The S-2A with two people is a little under powered. The S-2B with 260hp will do anything you want to do even with two people. The S-1T will knock your socks off. I'm 6'4" and 220lbs (Don't ask how I fit in a Pitts, I just did) and I could get two vertical rolls and still have enough energy at the top to do a "Humpty Bump" (a positve G pull over)Those mono planes are nice, but there's nothing like a biplane with the wires buzzing. Try it you'll like it. :-kewlForget the blue side up.Regards,Ed Weber a.k.a tallpilot

Hi Ed,Thanks for the suggestion. Pitts of any flavor are pretty rare birds around Perth (sometimes called the most remote Capital anywhere in the world). But i'll keep an eye out and see if there is anything available.Actually I have yet to fly in a biplane of any description. I'll put it on my list of things to do :-) That list is wayyyyy to long already.Cheers,Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern Australiahttp://www.fsd-international.com/images/FSD_beta_tester.jpg[h3] FSD Cheyenne LS400 "Around the world" flight. Now at TJSJ (Luis Munoz Marin Intl.)
