Short Final for 27 May

Recommended Posts

This comes from www.avweb.com's weekly newsletter....More from our "everybody's a critic" file: Recently, a student and instructor were practicing holds over a VOR. Strong winds aloft led to a very messy hold entry. When finally established in the hold, the controller asked: "Cherokee 1234, was that the Spirograph entry?" Doc BryantAnd I do remember the spirograph...and the etch a sketch too.

Yes, I remember those also. Hey, I ain't old! With respects to the spirograph entry, considering the winds here in OK, I think I remember executing some of those entries myself during training. :-)

And then there's the "small intestine entry" that was mentioned in Richard Taylor's Instrument Flying book. I did one of those on my checkride and passed anyway. Maybe the examiner cut me some slack because the holding fix was an intersection defined by a VOR radial and an NDB bearing. Still gives me a headache just thinking about it.Dan
