Black Mesa Flyers bratwurst and pot-luck dinner fly-in

Recommended Posts

Once again, time for the bi-annual EAA chapter fly-in. Since last time,"Paulden International Airport" has received an official name, and appears on the sectional as "Pilot's Rest" airport. It's about 10 miles north of my house. It's a mile long. During WWII it WAS a paved emergency strip. The one hangar is midway down the strip. It belongs to an acquaintance.A ex SR71 Blackbird pilot. And, a fantastic bratwurst griller. DanLooking straight west at the entrance. "The" hanger is barely visible to the left of the sign.Juniper Mts. 20 nm in background. My bear/cougar hiking area.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3da722f3658cc291.jpgThe airstrip hanger owner's RV kit plane, with a fantastic biplane kit job behind it.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3da724746a90aae0.jpgThis plane always comes, and brings its owner. They won a "grand champion" award at Oshkosh a couple years ago.Wisconsin is quite far away from Arizona.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3da7288878bb5163.jpgThis is a RANS Coyote II. Beautifully restored Piper Tri-Pacer in backgraound. The RANS flew up from Glendale airport (near Phoenix). Across the Bradshaw mountains.660 lbs empty. 540 lbs useful load. Cruise 115 mph. I WANT ONE.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3da7296b7bb9c856.jpgSo I got troubles ? You got troubles ?How about the builder/pilot of this little number. He included a modified cabin with windows to make it look like a military L-5, which he had also restored. He even painted it himself. He has to get around in one of those little electric three-wheeler scooters for handicapped people.A sweeping hat's off bow for you, DUDE ! ! ! http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3da72ad602c49f01.jpg
