I am lucky to be able to answer present. We have been getting 4 hours of electrical power a day over the last week. Does anyone know of a pedal-powered computer for sale?Best regards.Luis

Most of the week (for the next few weeks), I'm working out of town also. But then sunshine & palm trees beat the dreary rain, snow, & winter shades of gray in SLC. :)L.Adamson -- KSLC

Here!Had to fly to Austin on Thursday for a Partner's meeting. Which was held over a fabulous dinner at Ray's on Guadaloupe almost in the shadow of the Texas Capital bldg. Was slightly sleep deprived as I worked until 0400 and jetted from Midland at noon. Came back home Friday and worked till 0700 Saturday.Today I shall work in my shop on some 1940's vintage locomotive air horns. I have one sold to a fellow in New Zealand who is a photographer for the Discovery TV channel and three sold to a fellow in California who wants to make his neighbors very appreciative of him in a negative sort of way.And Brother Maynard shall act out behaviours that absolutely define the word "lurk."That is what is on the adgenda here at Casa Doc.Doc Bryant

Well, I did take a little hop with a friend yesterday with the intent of taking a look at one of our local rivers...the Chickasawhay. My friend is not as adventurous as I and we didn't get low enough, in my opinion, to get that good look. These images were taken off video tape. So, apologies for the quality.Off the departure end of GPT's RNWY 18 looking West toward Gulfport and East toward Biloxi...http://myweb.cableone.net/joesumralliii/Pa...laRiverFlt1.jpg http://myweb.cableone.net/joesumralliii/Pa...laRiverFlt2.jpgMississippi clouds...http://myweb.cableone.net/joesumralliii/Pa...laRiverFlt4.jpgThe River a few miles South of Waynesboro from a nose bleeding 3,000'. Hi there, Gents :-waveWell, let's see........ what have I been doing? Been trying to pry a regular paycheck from the doctor I transcribe for (yes, Jerry I know I'm not supposed to end a sentence with "for" but TOUGH! LOL). Also spent a few hours with my ex-hubby getting him ready to move to Nevada. Doing income-producing typing; playing in my flight sim practicing my helo hovering. :-rotor Take care, guys. -Lindy :-hah

That panel looks just like the Sporty's poster on my wall at home. Was that a 172 or 182?Jerry K. ThorneEast Ridge, TN

Jerry, it is a '98 172R. Has a little over 3,000TT and 1,000 SMOH. It had been owned by a East Texas college that has a flight school. They were upgrading their inventory with new and had 5 of these with essentially the same times and equipment to sell. That metal panel looks much better without that vac-u-formed plastic insert Cessna once used, doesn't it? http://myweb.cableone.net/joesumralliii/hook5.gif

>That metal panel looks much better without that vac-u-formed>plastic insert Cessna once used, doesn't it? >That is a very good description - especially when you see one that's a little loose.I still have one of those (Vac-u-Form), with plenty of plastic sheets left - even the metallic ones! Made lots of secret agent ID's with it. When the grandkids get a little older I'll show it to 'em.Still trying to get into final gear to complete the PPL.BTW, does anyone use Netscape 7.1, and are unable to login ? IE 6.0works fine, but Netscape won't let me login.Cheers,Dave H.Fayetteville, GA

I still check in here from time to time too.I've spent the last year mainly with X-Plane, and I'm now working with Getmapping and Intermap Technologies creating a brand new photographic scenery of England & Wales for X-Plane. It uses 4.8m per pixel aerial photographs and covers over 150,000 square miles in total. The first volume is due out before Christmas, so if any of you are interested in X-Plane and true photographic scenery, the likes of which barely graces MSFS, then check out my website (shameless advertisement!)_______RegardsChris Ehttp://www.circle-software.co.uk/php/html/images/logo.gifVisit http://www.circle-software.co.ukHome of X-Plane Photographic Scenery : England & Wales

Calvin,Your name and location are not familiar to some of us "old hands" around here. Tell us a bit about yourself and of any experience you have with ProPilot 99, etc. Or did you just stop by to get the feel of this "place" on Avsim?Jerry K. ThorneEast Ridge, TN

Hi Jerry,I am also an "old timer," albeit one who has not been active. I began monitoring (lurking?) this and other forums back before Flight Unlimited II went gold and Scott B. became moderator. I am 45 and interested in learning how to fly professionaly. It is... possible. In the real world I have piloted two "discovery" flights - 1984 (Cessna 150) & 1997 (Cessna 172). The reason for my stealthy behaviour was because I figured I'd learn more by keeping my jaw closed and ears open and you know what? - it works! The forums generally provided answers to my questions I would have asked so I didn't need to ask. I've learned a bunch.OK, while I'm in confession mode, I recently sent a secret message to Doc, but I guess I'll throw it out. Nothing really, just did not want to create a ligatory issue with our expected-but-never-realized benefactor, etc, if you know what I mean. ;-) Anyway, what I had asked the good doctor for was a burned copies of PP99 (mine got destroyed) and additionally a disk with all relevant patches and yes I still have my Voodoo 4500.Ok, now it's all out in the open.... As I told Doc, my absolute favorite moment in flightsim-dom, even to this day, was drifting down through the volumetric clouds on a nortward approach to DFW. It was spellbinding. Having recently found PP USA (used) at EBX, I am again rekindled, hence my request above and to Doc Bryant. (See Doc, I'm not hiding anymore. :)Jerry, that ought to give you a glimpse of myself, but another "unfortunately" is that I have precious little time (I should be working right now) to learn to "fly" and even fewer moments to view/communicate with the forums. I must admit, though, that it has been good. One last thing, that is unless there are any that can take my "crown," Jerry and all... do I get the Gold Medal for the Longest Lurking? In other words, am I the "LurKing?" (visualise a smiley wearing a crown here) Go ahead, I challenge any other contestants out there! :-xxrotflmao I guess that is it for now. I would like to fly for real and I intend to squeeze every shard of knowledge and wisdom from the sims until dream becomes reality. My email is available if anyone would like to offer a sim suggestion to achieve my end or if anyone can help with the files.Take care,Calvin

>Hey Dan,>By the way, what archeological site would that be?I have three locations, these are ancient Indian (Anasazi) sites dated around 800-1400 AD. I think. I have to do a lot more studying to do. :-)#1 is a single site.#2 has a hilltop three pueblo site and a nearby single pueblo site.#3 has a fantastic hilltop pueblo site overlooking a canyon with two formerly inhabited caves, and two petroglyph sites. These are all on public land, and legally accessible by anyone if they don't do anything to degrade them. However, I signed up to never reveal their locations. I monitor any evidence of visitation, vandalism, or "pot-hunting" digging. Our entire area is full of such sites, but I never noticed them "before".Here's three pictures chosen to be "location neutral" starting with #3 petroglyphshttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/49374.jpgThe petroglyphs in the picture above are here. I see them, do you ?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/49375.jpgThe #3 pueblo, a very good example. On 4WD trips I drove very near this site at least five times and never saw it until I received my "steward directions".http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/49377.jpg

PP USA was earlier than PP99. The 3D good stuff was only in PP99 and the PP2000 alpha disks before the demise of Dynamics and the move toward ETC with our sim of choice.Jerry K. ThorneEast Ridge, TN

All right, then, I guess ... a lizard! After all, what other kinds of animals could there possibly be in that arid area? Don't tell me that it is really a drawing of an antelope or a mastodont. Or, maybe it was really lush and humid there in the times of the Anasazi, and they left when the climate became arid?By the way, does Sally help to scare away potential gravediggers? Or, is she more the "woof, woof, lick your face" type of dog?I imagine that we all appreciate your pictures, Dan, although I may be the most volubile about it.Best regards.Luis

I have always enjoyed your pictures, Dan.My guess is an antelope. Saw them at play once along Hwy 285 in the San Luis Valley, Colorado. It is unfortunate that the art is going to weather away. It's amazing, though, that it has lasted as long as it has. The example in your image had to have been beautiful when that cobalt blue color hadn't become so faded. Greetings,Been a while since I checked in here last!Still cruise AVSIM once in a while (obviously... or I wouldn't be posting 8^) )Living in Colleyville, Texas (near DFW) and teaching at CAE Simuflite International. I teach the Dassault Falcon 20 and Falcon 10 in both ground school and Simulator, and have Designated Examiner Authority in the -20 to issue the ATP and type ratings.Staying really busy, but do have time to fly my desktop sim once in a while.... even though I could play in the real thing if I wanted instead. We have 30 different sim programs in the building, so there is a selection of toys!Hope all are well, and do enjoy the upcoming holiday season!Tim SandersATP, Instructor Pilot Falcon 10 & 20WWW.caesimuflite.com

I think this was expected since we seem to be the dedicated remaining few who enjoyed the comeraderie here more than than the flight sim itself. Let's face it, there is not much else to see in the simulator database -- most of the "Easter Eggs" were found long ago. The "newbies" that discover PP99 are few and far between these days.As for me, I get home Wednesday after 10 days on the road for the company. I will be working on the RV-9A Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this Thanksgiving holiday, before getting back on the road again during the first week of December.Jerry K. ThorneEast Ridge, TN

Hey Art, look at the bright side. You're still here, I'm still here. This is more than enough to throw a party! All we need are the dancing girls.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/50305.gifAnd anyway, less people does not mean lower quality. People come and go, doesn't seem to change much in the bigger picture.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/50312.gifIf you like, you can look at this forum as a congenial meeting place for people who are otherwise rather far.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/50313.gifAnd, it is not as if any of us is being nailed to the wall and forced to hang around.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/50314.gifThat was "duck taped", by the way.Well, let me skeedadle out of here before this gets out of control.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/50316.gifBest regards.Luisstill S.I.C.(Does anyone even remember what that means? I certainly don't. Doc came up with it, maybe he does.)
