....But, then how much is on topic here.My cable connection was pooping out on me this evening. Pages were much slower coming up or wouldn't load at all.Frustrated, I went to the Toast site to check my speed before I placed a call to tech support to find out the story. The Toast page wouldn't come up.Then, as fast as my connection bacame slow, it got fast again. Decided to do the speed test anyway. The following link shows my speed results which is now more than twice as fast as it was before all this bagan this evening. Just how goofy can things get? Am I going to press my cable provider about this newfound speed? Absolutely NOT !http://www.toast.net/performance/results.a...4&loadtime=2.31 http://myweb.cableone.net/joesumralliii/hook5.gif

Joe,Are you living on a cable system operated by Comcast? They have been on a nationwide system reconfiguration of their cable modem network. They advertised that they were doubling their data rates to cable modem customers.Jerry K. ThorneEast Ridge, TN

Shame on you, Joe, bringing up these things in the forum. So, just to punish you, here is something that is not remotely related to your off-topic topic. It is an off-off-topic topic (I'm getting dizzy!):http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/70314.jpgI know that you will appreciate it, though. Got to be brave to go fishing in the Caribbean!Best regards.Luis

Hey Joe, I'm jealous. My microwave connection is just barely faster than ISDN, and near the lower end of "cable". $39/month.Luis: The wife and I spent three nights at the Sedona Golf Resort as a 40th anniversary gift from a GOOD friend. Here's me golfing on Sat. Note, there are no sand sharks in the backgrounds.I played with a father and son from "the Valley" ( Phoenix ).The son flew them up in a rented C172SP as a birthday gift for the father. They took a taxi from the Sedona airport. Note "the weather".http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/70329.jpgMe at a 171 yd. par three. OK, I look like an anxious dufus. It hit the green, I missed the 15 foot put, and got a kick-in par. I've done MUCH worse. :-)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/70330.jpg

Luis,You bet I can appreciate it! That image is very well done and I'm going to get plenty of mileage from it.Did I ever tell you about the Tiger Shark I saw out at Chandeleur? The thing had to be 15' in length in estimating it's size relative to the Redfish it was after. From the air, it looked motionless just outside the third bar and had those Redfish pushed right up to water's edge.We routinely would fish from atop the second bar in elbow deep water. I would never wade deeper than thigh deep after that. Tiger Sharks will eat you!Joehttp://myweb.cableone.net/joesumralliii/hook5.gif

My goodness, Dan, that is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever seen. The colors and the rugged terrain are stunning and the contrast with the well-manicured green is marvelous!I found some pictures of Ed's home, Lake Havasu, and it also is incredibly beautiful. Those desert areas sure are impressive.Happy anniversary to you and your wife. Hope that you had a good time.Best regards.Luis

I went in with funny pain in my chest, half hour later I was in the Cardiac Cath lab, watching them run pipe in me on the big screen.Heart Guy was absolutely astounded that no damage was done. Now I gotta cut back on cigars and exercise more. And pay one heck of a medical bill,I am sure.Doc Bryant

Not good news, Doc.In the face of bad news, sometimes it's good to interject a little levity....A man goes to the doctor for a check-up. After the tests are done, the doctor meets with the patient and begins with a long deep-breathed, hmmmmmmmm. You're going to have to stop eating all that rich food, he says. And drinking all that whiskey and smoking those cigaretts are out of the question. Also, you're going have to quit chasing those women around the way you do.Well doc, the patient asks, will I live longer? No, the doctor says frankly. But, it'll seem like it. http://myweb.cableone.net/joesumralliii/hook5.gif

Well, they told me to go to low cal low carb foods. Ok. I can do that.I told them I would cut back to THREE cigars a day. They accepted that. And they told me no "special" activities for three weeks. That ban held up for less than 48 hours. Oh well.Doc Bryant

Daniel:No offense taken.Did I get away cheap? I think the bills now tally around the 25K mark. Think downsizing, as our esteemed Capt. Tall has noted? My health insurance got downsized a while back. So this one's on me.My Boss and Dear Leader was in my hospital room suppling moral support to me during the lectures. If you can call moral support sssorted guffaws, smirks, knowing glances and the best shot of the day, "Hey, you should be directing that at me. Doc eats better than I do. I should be where he is!"But as to allowing me to smoke cigars (and I am enjoying one as I pen this...) The Boss and me tag team noted the following...."That comedian, he lived to what, almost a hundred, and he smoked cigars...""Yea, George Burns!""And how about Milton Berle?""Wasn't he in his 90's?""True, he smoked like a chimney!""Then there was Danny Thomas!""Right.""Sir Winston Churchill was right up there too!""So he was, so he was.""Well, then there was Ernie Kovacs.""Yea, he did die a bit young.""He did smoke an awful lot too."At this point Nursey Nursey chimed in, sensing this was her only opportunity to continue the disdain ridden lecture..."See, it did not take long for you two to realize..."Cut off in mid chagrin she was..."Yep, cigar smoking DID shorten his life. He wrecked his motorcar whilst trying to set flame to a panatella."Case Closed. The dietician they sent by was also a hoot. My late mother was educated in nutrition at Carnegie Tech U in Pittsburgh. So all my life I was slyly indoctrinated into the "eat healthy" routine. She was always under 100 lbs, soaking wet. But also always near a cigarette. I compromised with her as to not lecture her about smoking. And she did not lecture me too much about weight. Although she did offer to buy me a nice custom suit from Brooks Bros. should I get down into their size range! Now, on to the Zino Platinums. I have had a great deal of experience with them, including an evening spent with their representative. The Platinums are very nice. Not a young man's cigar in strength or cost, I might add. They blend their fillers with three different leaf mixtures, end to end, so the cigar has a distinct flavor shift as you smoke it. Quite intriguing. And not a casual smoke.I have just tried the Ghurka brand also. They found a warehouse full of pre embargo Cuban leaf in Nicaragua. Oh my. $26 a cigar. I have had three. And well worth it.I arranged a "Manly Man" dinner the other night. Each of five courses accompanied by a good sized belt of booze. First course was bacon wrapped shrimp (I seem to always migrate to them post operation, if you recall my gall bladder incident posted years ago here) with Crown Royal on the rocks, second course was a very nice baby spinach and citrus salad washed down with Dry Sack Sherry, third course was a wonderful cut of rare Prime Rib (very lean too) with a nice single malt Scotch. Fourth course was a cheese tray of truffle oil laced parmesan and a blue cheese with ten year old Dow's Port, and finally, a fruit shortcake with Kelt Cognac. I did behave and managed to grace my table mates with the booze that I did not want. And the favor was returned when the Cognac arrived. My glass seemed never to empty, in spite of my best efforts. And Ashton Cigars provided a box of Aroma De Cuba Robustos. Which were plenty robust!Doc Bryant

Doc,You do me proud! There is only the present and you have lived it for all that it is worth! Yesterday is but a memory, tomorrow is only a dream, now is all there is -- grasp it firmly and live it completely.(I get the idea that my old high-school English teacher just rolled over in his grave!) :( Jerry K. Yes Jerry I am sure your High School English teacher is indeed doing some sort of acrobatics somewhere. You have made a mistake of tense......I AM living it for all it's worth. So your note should read, ..you are living it for all it's worth.....Now having returned from the Wine Shed and Cigar Store that I call home most evenings, I shall go firmly grasp a good double maduro double corona. And perhaps fling a dog treat Brother Maynard's way in the process!Doc Bryant
