My new ride - too bad it's not a PLANE !

Hi Gang !( that would mostly be the Big Three, eh ? ).My vehicle update. Because, I have no flying to write about.I didn't need insurance and plate expense for five vehicles. After I paid 1/2 of their value "again" to keep 'em.So,1. The travel trailer left, to a good home ( sold for cheap ). But, gone.2. The full-size pickup ( GMC Z71 "offroad" ) left. Not needed with the trailer gone.3. The '83 Jeep CJ ( "real Jeep" ) left. It couldn't haul anything but two people and a dog.Kept the '04 Corvette and the '71 Camaro Z28. They are like children.Would you sell your child ? Uh, don't answer that.I just changed the Vette license plate from "405 HP" to "Z06 Z16".That is GMspeak for Z06 "track model", and Z16 "Lemans 24 Hrs. Commemorative Edition" option code. So, I needed an off-road vehicle, that could also haul reasonably sized cargo to replace the pickup and the "regular Jeep".That would be a Jeep Cherokee ( XJ in Jeep terminology ).Sally inspects her "new ride". She was VERY unhappy when the only driveable vehicles were the Vette or the Camaro. She is not allowed to ride in either one. Now, she is VERY happy again. When I use the XJ. And, open the tailgate.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/189631.jpgHere it is, completely stock as I bought it. Good shape, lived in AZ all its life ( no rust ).'99 Jeep Cherokee "XJ". 111,000 miles. Traded for the '83 CJ with 122,00 miles and a BAD 4wd transfer case leak. The Jeep inline six is very lightly stressed. Usually good for over 200,000 miles.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/189629.jpgTwo months later ( yesterday ) after "the modifications" for real off-road use. This would be a "Rubicon Express" 3 1/2" lift with their springs, shocks and sway bar disconnects. A Positraction unit installed in rear diff. And, "Rock sliders" protecting the rocker panels between front and rear wheels.New 8" wide rims ( the currently fashionable "black steelies" ).Bigger, wider, and more aggressive tires, 31" high x 10.5" wide BFG "All-Terrains" ( also "fashionable" ).And, of course, that "limo tint" on all windows except the windshield has a 4" "top band".You can't see through it from the outside. Cops just "love" this. {:^)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/189633.jpgThat's it. Just fun, utility, and two fewer insurance premiums and " yearly plate fees ".In case you didn't now, the license plate yearly tabs are mucho $$$'s.

Heck of a make-over, Dan. Looks like a very robust vehicle now, and it sounds like you got a great deal. I imagine that it will get a lot of real use where you live. Anyway, it is definitely not a Soccer Mom's transport!Best regards.Luis
