Hi All,Just to back up what Matthew has said.A recent case it the UK has found that anything downloaded or purchased from a company, that company retains its rights even if that company cease trading, unless that company acknowledges that these rights have passed to the purchaser.Norman

>How can PSS the corporation own the rights to their>software if PSS no longer exist. It is a non >entity. The EULA says the software remains the >property of PSS, not Graham Waterfield.Goran (and others):as has already been said 'us in the forum' don't know what type of business PSS created when started. i'll make an assumption in order to provide a base of discussion that PSS is a form of limited partnership (and from a USA point of view).a business is a legal 'person'. the business pays taxes and has legal rights much like a human. once a person creates a product (and in PSS case takes the secondary step of confirming their copyright) the business owns that property until it legaly gives up ownership (a combo here of paperwork filing and public notice).even if the business is no longer active (remember, none of us know what PSS's status really is) PSS's ownership rights continue. as PSS is a limited partnership, as assumed for the this discussion, the ownership rights to the products made are held by the partners. how the partners 'own' all or parts of PSS can be complicated: all own a equal share, some own more 'parts' than others, and there are many many more combinations that can exist.hope this helps. and remember: all the above is just general discussion and has no legal standing. i have no idea what type of company PSS is, nor the current status of PSS. also, laws differ by country/state so the above may have no truth to your current reality.--

HelloQuote "Since they no longer exist, they no longer own the license to the software"Looks like you don't have much of an understanding of copy write law.

hi mad dogThe true status of PSS is still not known and will not be known until a statement is forthcoming. It would be wrong to assume that just because they are not responding to this forum that they have gone away- they may be trying to link up with someone else!Copyright does not cease to have anowner just because of a company ceasing to trade!Norman

Norman, that may be so, but just a little note containing "please bear with us whilst we sort out x, an announcement will be made shortly" would not be too hard would it? There is no way the members of the PSS "team" are not reading these forums.Dean__________________________________________________Q400 DriverQVA CFI

I am going to lock this thread now as it's not really going anywhere: PSS still owns the copyright on all its products, we do not know what the status of the company is at the moment and we have no idea whether or not any of those directly responsible for the company are reading these forums or not. Please let's leave it there for now chaps and get back to discussing the aircraft.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk
