Monitoring FSATC and using RC

Featured Replies

(edited to move back to top. Yikes, I'm talkative!)Since this is brought up a lot, I thought I'd make a thread just for this topic. Please read the manual section titled: Making use of FS2002 ATC for Your ChatterIt explains how to use your radios to monitor FSATC on Comm 2 and how to add a Comm 2 radio if you don't have one installed on your panel.RC always uses Comm 1 whether it's the active radio or not. The active pertains only to FSATC.Monitoring FSATC on Comm 2 removes potential conflicts between RC and FSATC - like hearing RC ATIS/Wx and FSATC ATIS when RC tunes to it.Secondly, it's a good idea to reduce the volume of FSATC so it's just background chatter level, and not overwhelming or you can miss RC calls to you.

Scott's comments are right on and in addition to ATIS and WX, I use the monitoring of FSATC for taxi instructions to AI traffic. That way I know where they are heading on the ground. In addition during approach to crowded airports like KLAX, KDEN, KDFW and KATL you can hear the approach instructions to AI aircraft and keep an eye open for any conflicts with your own approach.RC's instructions used with FSATC is really an exciting environment.Bob

The only thing I do not understand is how can we use this with panels like PSS Airbus.that's basically the only plane I use and I don't think there is a way to make both Comm units active to were you hear both at the sametime Capt.Richard Dillon (KATL)www.jetstarairlines.comhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpghttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg"Lets Roll" 9/11 -----------------------Specs AMD 1600 XP MSI KT 266t pro2 512MB DDR 2100GF3 ti 200 64MB SBliveCh Products Yoke and Pedals(usb)Windows 2000 Serivce Pack 3

Richard,You don't need both active, only Comm 2. RC will go happily along using Comm 1. I don't recall, but I think the radios on the specialty panels aren't any different from the default ones. Bob (above) uses PIC and it works for him. Others on the beta team are using PSS without ptoblem.
