What a great product (with a few little bugs). The great wealth of knowledge on this Forum (and the PSSA320 one also) has been invaluable to me, so I just wanted to thank everyone here.1) I've fixed the slow voices problem (changing the "process priority" worked for me)2) I figured out why all my chatter stopped all of a sudden up over Dover on the way to CDG (naughty me - I changed the FS time enroute)3) I've found out how to add COM2 monitoring to my PSSA320 panel so that I can listen to the FSATC calls to all of my AI "MyTraffic" that previously have been suddenly showing up on final without me expecting them. Thanks again to everyone - especially the RC Developers and Beta Testings that seem to be floating around continuously in this forum. What a great bunch of helpful people, and behalf of myself and the rest of us "lurkers" on this forum....THANKS!I do have one quick question, although I hesitate to ask it as I haven't tried to recreate it yet: I was supposedly recieving vectors to a 8L approach into Paris - CDG. Even though I thought I was pretty much ligned up at the time I got it - my last vector was a HDG of 115 (35 deg right), and RC just kept me going that direction (at only 1900 feet - off between the Eiffel Tower and Orly) until I was about 20 miles past CDG - with no futher instructions or contact from RC. I finally asked for the visual, and turned back myself to land without further incident.Any ideas? I have read the manual, but haven't done the tutorial flights yet. That will be my next task(s) just to make sure that I didn't do anything wrong before I show up back here asking the same question again....Thanks again everyone for your help so far, and in advance in case anyone has any ideas about what might be wrong in the situation I described above.

glad you're enjoyingi wonder if your last heading was an intercept heading (either to the final approach heading, or the ils), and you were told to join the localizer or fly the approach heading when available. (mind lockup, can't remember the exact phrase).you will never be told to fly the runway heading. you get the intercept and you have permission to turn to final

Okay; maybe that is where I messed up. (see; I probably shouldn't have posted this until I really figured out what was going on!)So it is up to me to know when to turn to final? What if I'm too far out to recieve the localizer? I think this was the problem in this case. I had been vectored out to about 30 miles, and couldn't pick up the localizer. Then I got that nice low-level tour of downtown Paris! :)What if it is a visual approach runway? How am I supposed to know when to turn, if I can't see the field yet? Use the FS GPS?Anyway, the Tutorial flight #1 went fine last night, so maybe I just have to get more familiar with this program. During that flight, I was definitely vectored to intercept the localizer, and I did without any problems. Thanks again for all your help

Hi there,That's right, RC vectors you onto a course which will intercept the localiser, you are expected to turn onto the localiser at the appropriate point - gotta leave something for the pilot to do ;-)I can only remember a couple instances of rc vectoring me onto a localiser which I couldn't receive before turning onto final (usually a problem with the scenery) in which case having another navaid tuned in (say an ndb on the runway line if there is one) is invaluable. Gives an idea of when you should be meeting the localiser. On a purely visual approach RC should vector you towards the airport and you report once the field is in sight. All the best,John

Thanks John! Now I promise to be a good little Forum user and make sure I know exactly what I'm talking about before posing questions here in the future ;)

I often fly in france too, in fact my departure airport is always CDG ;)I have one question for PIC767 users : I didn't find COM2 on the radio stack, is there a way to add it or did I simply need glasses ? ;)Best regards,Guillaume

there is a section in the manual, written by scott, that tells how to add a second comm radio to a panel

Ok thanks, I just wanted a confirmation that even PIC didn't have one :)Best regards,Guillaume

Being A PSS, MyTraffic, RCv3 user, will these tips be posted in an official FAQ somewhere? Searching Avsim can be a slow process and urge this type of information be posted on the official or an unoffical site soon. Thanks,

  • Commercial Member

tell me what you think should be on the faq, and i'll add them to the web site.want to be the offical FAQ coordinator ;-)

>tell me what you think should be on the faq, and i'll add >them to the web site. >>want to be the offical FAQ coordinator ;-) I can write up a FAQ answer to the question of:"How do I listen to FS ATC (including "MyTraffic" type add-ons) for my background chatter using the PSS A320?"If you are interested, I'll write it up tonight and post it here. (assuming I can figure out how to include a picture)Let me know if that is what you are looking for.
