RCv3 and the PMDG 737-700

Recommended Posts

Hello, I wonder if anyone has tried to fly the PMDG 737-700 using Radar Contact? Is there a conflict between the PMDG and the FS2002/2004 autopilot? Thanks

Blais,I use both and yes, RC cannot control the autopilot of any 3rd party aircraft that uses a specialist autopilot. This applies to PSS 747 and 777, 767PIC, Dreamfleet 737 as well as the PMDG737.The best option is to switch off traffic vectoring if you won't be in front of your PC for the whole flight.Nice aircraft BTW.Cheers,

Thanks Ray, Switching OFF traffic vectoring is no big deal and I can certainly live with that whether I am sitting at the machine, which I usually do, or not. Therefore I assume I'll have to manipulate the FMC as Radar Contact gently suggests I make a change in altitude, speed and/or direction? If that is the case I can live with that also. Actually it would make for a more interesting flight. I used a AVSIM Aloha 737-700 but am looking forward to the Aloha in the PMDG series. Seems like a very decent 737.Regards

Hi Blais,Rather than make changes to the FMC I suggest you use the MCP for speed, heading and altitude changes. As RC will give you specific altitudes, speeds or headings to fly when apporaching the destination airport that is how I would control the aircraft when full ILS approach vectors are required.Aloha sounds like a Hawaiian airline. Bit far from home for me. I'm using a BA livery around Europe and Delta and Continental for US flights.Cheers,

Hi Ray, Got you on the MCP. (You can tell I haven't yet got this one off the ground, huh?) I'll use your method because it certainly sounds better and wiser. MCP........shades of Ps1.3. I needed an Aloha for my daughter's recent trip to Hawaii. All I could find at that time was the one on AVSIM. Then along came PMDG. I hold down the fort in SE-MA in the US, the birthpace of something or other.Regards

Hi Blais,<>Not for me. I use the Aerosoft 747MCP. Nice piece of kit. It works fine with the 767PIC but now that FS2004 has arrived and Wilco/PIC Team aren't doing a patch the PMDG737 is now my preferred aircraft.Take a look here... www.mcp747.com/Cheers,

Hi Ray, Did go to the site for a look-see. It's coming closer and closer to the PS1 MCP. I wouldn't invest into this type of hardware because it may end up being useful for a specific version of MSFS and if the company doesn't update one simple gets stuck with a museum piece. Does look nice though.Cheers

Hmmm, the PMDG 737 would be the only supported Addon with the 747 MCP. That's nice, but the 747 MCP Layout is quite different, also there is no course selector. So for authenticity it would be great if Aerosoft Australia would make a 737NG MCP. Mike

Hi Blais,Andrew at Aerosoft has already issued updated software to make it compatible with FS2004 and I see no reason why this shouldn't be the case with future versions either. The same applies to GoFlight hardware. They wouldn't sell much stuff it is was only guaranteed to work with one version of FS.Cheers,

Mike, they also support Project Mangenta as well as the 767PIC (FS2002). I agree that the layout is different but not sufficiently different to make it a problem for me using the MCP on the PMDG737.Course selector? Why would you need that when LNav is available? When LNav is disconnected the heading selector is then used - surely?Cheers,

@Ray,>> Course selector? Why would you need that Because if I would spend 500$ for such a unit, it would be not bad to have it really authentic. I agree though, it's not really a showstopper regarding functionality.@Tord,the CPFlight unit looks great, but the big question is : Will PMDG support it (feed the displays ) ??Mike
