October 28, 200520 yr HI--Apoligies if this has been asked/discussed before.Mind you, I absolutely plan on purchasing RC4:-beerchug but I was curious about a few matters. 1) In regards to the callsigns used by the controllers (airline/aircraft type, etc.) does the program also utilizethe aircraft.cfg file of the airplanes for this information, like FS9?I'm wondering if, like FS9, the wording of the pertinententries in that file will affect what callsigns the programcommunicates on the "frequencies." Is the default callsign"experimental" if the program does not recognize the line inthe .cfg file? 2) Ditto the flight numbers and registration numbers for theGA aircraft; does RC4, like FS9, utilize the information contained in the "flightplans" component of the [traffic].bglfiles?3) I'm VERY much looking forward to the new features regardingAI interaction--that the other aircraft will truly interact with the user's, and speed up/slow down relative to his/hers,for example, on final approach. Does that interaction only apply to the user's aircraft? For example, if I'm sitting on the ramp on a particularly busy airport, getting ready for departure, or holding short of the runway, or I've cleared it after landing, etc., will the AI aircraft on final continue to be adequately spaced from each other (a la Traffic Seperator or Traffic Smoother)? Just wondering if I need to continue to keep one of those programs handy.;-) 4) Finally, will Otto still be around in RC4? I think she'scool. :-cool Thanks!!!
October 29, 200520 yr Commercial Member 1) callsign is what fsuipc see. if you run trafficlook (part of fsuipc), i will call the ai whatever trafficlook says it's called. maybe that info is in the .cfg file. i don't know.2) same as 13) no. i only care about the ai that are going to be an issue with. if you run ai smooth, i don't think rc will having to do much work4) absolutely. he still can't fly the fancy planes, but anything with a ms autopilot, he has a rating for :-) JD Read my blog
October 29, 200520 yr I plan on continuing to use AISmooth v112 with RC4 so seperation of AI among themselves can be controlled. It has a greater area control range whereas RC4 is concerned with the immediate AI actions around your aircraft. Used correctly they should complement each other.AISmooth has enhanced my use of the current RC 3.1.The latest version is here:http://www.sg-flightware.de/With RC4 you might want to turn off the AI Smooth option to respond to user aircraft since in final RC4 controls the immediate area around you.
October 30, 200520 yr Thanks, as always, for the quick and very helpful reply!!:-) One more question: I noticed on your website that Air TrafficSeperator is not among the programs RC4 was tested with. While I think both AI Smooth and AI Traffic Seperator are brilliant work, I marginally prefer the latter; have youidentified any problems re: the compatability of Traffic Seperator with RC4 (though given its methodology vs AI Smoother's, I think I can imagine what such potential problems might be)? Thanks!!!
October 30, 200520 yr Thanks much for the feedback!!:-) I've kind of taken a likingto AI Traffic Seperator, though I have an older version of AI Smooth that I used once.It looks though, as if AI Smooth has surpassed AITS in popularity;indeed, it seems to be a work that has evolved more readily as well, hence the new version that you were nice enough to provide the linkto. :-beerchug I'll have to revisit it, and will definitely download the new version and try it out. Thanks for the suggestion re: RC!!
October 30, 200520 yr Commercial Member i have not heard any beta tester mention they were using ai traffic seperator. i can't imagine that there would be a problem, but i can't say there won't be a problem either.jd JD Read my blog
November 3, 200520 yr I just have a kind of follow-up question about callsigns. How do you handle all of them? Right now many of the callsigns not originally included have been created via editvoicebox. Are we going to be hearing alot of flights without callsigns if it isn't a major carrier? Thanks.Drew
November 3, 200520 yr Moderator Drew,We've got most of the world's callsigns in v4 - over 400 major and minor. Sure, we may have missed a few but if you use a Ai program such as Ultimate Traffic you won't be disappointed. All these callsigns are spoken ones by real people - not computer generated. Each controller had to record 1,905 wavs and each pilot 1,793.We have around 15 controllers and 8-9 pilots plus several chatter pilots for the Ai aircraft. I don't want to think about how many wav files that is because I think I've listened to most of them at some point during the last 4 months. :-eek Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
