December 7, 200520 yr Author Moderator We have a new Radar Contact v4 video for you. It's a flight from London Heathrow to Paris Charles de Gaulle. It demonstrates how Radar Contact operates under non-FAA regulations - i.e. more akin to UK and European air traffic rules. Thanks to Dean Barry. You can download Video3 here http://www.mmmprod.com/radarcontact4.htmlCheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). December 8, 200520 yr Sorry, but the voices sound even more robotic than the default FS9 ones. It sounds really terrible. ricardo
December 9, 200520 yr Author Moderator Ricardo,I'm sorry that you feel like that. Not sure there's anything I can add to such a damning opinion. :(Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). December 9, 200520 yr Hi Ray and/or jd, quite nice to hear European phraeseology. One thing sounds annoying though :"cleared to Paris de Gaulle airport"It should simply be "cleared to Paris Charles de Gaulle".It is obvious the clearance is for an airport, not a harbour or train station or whatever. So the word "AIRPORT" is unusual. And speak the full airport name please ! It's Paris CDG, not Paris DG !Also using the word "THE" in some phrases in unusual. Not a showstopper, but should there be a patch, it would be great if this could be adressed for even more authenticity.Mike
December 9, 200520 yr Mike,This is a known "problem" which both Ray and I have tried to get changed but with only limited success - so far! As you say, it's not a showstopper but, rest assured, it remains on my list of things to be put right for future versions.Pete
December 9, 200520 yr Pete,>> list of things to be put right for future versionsThat sounds good.Although I must admit, I'm a bit confused about your answer - you tried to get it changed already and it did not make it ? Why not ?Mike
December 9, 200520 yr It's a language thing, Mike. As a German, you may not have heard this before but the standing joke about the British and the Americans is that we're two nations divided by a common language! :D :D :D This is a perfect example of it.Pete
December 9, 200520 yr Author Moderator Hi Pete,Wasn't it a FAA thing too? I'm sure I remember Doug saying that the word 'THE' was included in Clearance Delivery on the other side of the pond.I completely agree with Mike over the use of the word 'Airport'. It seems unnecessary and perhaps we can convince JD/Doug to drop it for non-FAA destinations and even completely but that might be pushing our luck a bit too far :-hahMike, we chose 'Paris de Gaulle' for reasons of brevity as we did for JFK using 'New York Kennedy' instead of the full name.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). December 9, 200520 yr Pete,>> we chose 'Paris de Gaulle' for reasons of brevity Hmmmm, 'Paris de Gaulle Airport' vs 'Paris Charles de Gaulle'. If you skip AIRPORT, then you free up seven characters for CHARLES :D :D.Well, all not meant so serious, but let's hope for a change in the next version ;)Mike
