December 12, 200520 yr I', getting more and more impressed with RC4 and it hasn't even been a day since I ordered it. The attention to detail is stunning.I wonder if the peeps on the other side of the Atlantic will get their ATC right (he says with tongue firmly planted in cheek) and make RC5 developer's lives easier :-)
December 12, 200520 yr Hi jd,here's an extensive collection of European phraeseology recordings, might clear up some misunderstandings e.g. about usage of the word "AIRPORT" here in Europe. Needs Real Player to listen.http://www.hilmerby.com/fom/proc_rt_ra.htmlJust wondering, could users theoretically edit it to their liking ? What happens if I would rename the corresponding "AIRPORT.wav" (don't know how it's called) or "will_give_call.wav" file, or just exchange it with a very short wav file that says nothing ?Mike
December 12, 200520 yr Hi Mike,If RC doesn't find the wav file it simply doesn't play it so renaming would be your best option. However any other phrases that use that .wav file will also be affected so you might find other messages being incomplete. Proceed with care ;-)Disclaimer: We don't encourage messing around with the setup of course and take no responsibility if your computer melts down as a result of such action :-lol All the best,John
December 12, 200520 yr Does RC4 have an option to include variations of responses like you can with the default? I spent a lot of time with Lars and EVP creating variations of phraseology in the default and I hope that kind of thing also happens in RC4.
December 12, 200520 yr Did you mean variations in the responses? What I mean is we have included some variations that are used so that what you hear is not exactly the same every time in every instance. For example, if you request cancellation of speed restrictions below 10000ft, the controller may deny the request, but will not say it in the same way each time. It may be approved or denied, but the wording will be different. I think there are 2 or 3 variations for the denial. So you won't hear the same wording each time. There are a few other of these 'variations' throughout the course of a flight, so it's not always the same in every flight.Subs
December 12, 200520 yr But I must admit variations do not exsist in every response. The number of wavs would have been phenomonally high(er) if we did.I think the request for allowable deviations due to turbulance is also another one. Maybe a couple of others here and there....Subs
December 12, 200520 yr Thanks John, sounds good ! Those that fly in Europe only might find something then to optimize it a bit.But once again, it's no big deal at all. I thought I say that again, before it gets out of perspective. I'm really pleased with the European enhancements !Mike
December 13, 200520 yr Watching the demos I didn't hear any 'farewell' phrases - are they included - ie Good bye - bye bye - thanks etc? Also (and this is probably one for the next version) is there any way of including time of day greetings? These sort of personalised sounds make a huge difference imho - unfortunately this doesn;t seem possible in the default atc although with the help of EVP there's now variations that include Good bye, bye bye and thanks. Thanks :-) - oh and - bye bye :-)
December 13, 200520 yr Author Moderator Grajay,At the end of each flight you have the option of hearing a critique. This will tell you what Radar Contact thought of your flying! Although it doesn't include a goodbye it's still worthwhile having a listen so you don't keep making the same mistakes. Bill Stevens looms! :-)Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
