Transition through xxx altitude

Often when receiving a higher or lower altitude, RC4 tells me to 'transition through' a certain altitude.What does that mean in practical terms? When I hit that mentioned altitude what do I do to mark the transition: waggle my wings, flash my lights, honk the horn or what?

i'm not sure what "transition through" means. i have no wavs like thatyou might hear something like "expedite through 17000" or passing 17000 fly headingjd

Of course you're perfectly correct - my post was sloppily written: 'Expedite' is the word.So, what does it mean in practical terms? I mean, to get from C to A I Have to pass through B, don't I? so unless I 'mark' that 'expedition point' in some way (the 'joke' about the lights, horn etc) it seems a pointless thing to say.

When used by ATC, it means that the controller wants you to increase your rate of climb or descent to pass through the stated level as quickly as possible, usually for separation purposes.For example, an instruction to "Climb FL220, expedite through FL180." means that you should climb at your best available rate until you have passed FL180 and then you may resume your normal/preferred rate for the rest of the climb.Pete
