Holding based on weather (working?)

Recommended Posts

JD et al,I just realized that since installing RCv4 soon after its debute, I've had Holding set to weather but I don't recall ever being issued a hold no matter how lousey the weather looks outside the aircraft. I can recall one approach recently into Paris with the PMDG 747 with thunderstorm and turbulance all-around but still I was immediately granted the full ILS approach. I do fly with ASv6 enabled and it, and RC4 are installed on my WideFS PC. Could you please describe some of the criteria by which RCv4 will issue a hold based on weather so I can tell if it's actually working in this mode? Or, describe just how bad the weather has to be for hold to issued? As always, thanks again for the great support...

page 52 and 53 has a chart of the probabilities based on number of runways and the weatheryou also have to have the final checkpoint be a VOR, and it has to be less than 5 miles from the destination airportjd

Roger that. LOL, why did I know the 'ol RTFM was going to prevail here? But I didn't know about the VOR within 5 miles rule... Thanks again...

>you also have to have the final checkpoint be a VOR, and it>has to be less than 5 miles from the destination airport>>jdActually, another quick question. Does this final checkpoint have to be a VOR or can it be any valid checkpoint within 5nm? i.e, and NDB or a fix as well?
