i could explain it, but if you just push buttons......it is complicated. same program, two completely different flight simulator versionsit is complicated, because i have to take into account people that use widefs. most don't. they have to do things differently than those of us that have rc and fs on the same machineit is complicated, because you would think i could trust the registry entry that tells me where the fs9 and fsx programs are installed. i can't people. people move the directories around, rebuild machines and not install their apps, just copy them from their old machines, leaving empty registry entries.it is complicated, because of the wide diversity of users. button pushers, and uber-geeks. i try to strike a balance. i asked for feedback on the instructions from people i know that are at both extremes. the instructinos were tweaked to be as clear, concise, and accurate as possible - for all.upgrades and patches aren't easy. this was particularly difficult because makerwys.exe was modified to include additional information that i will be using in v5. it isn't being used in v4, but i still have to deal with the new fields. i could have tried maintained my sanity with one version of makerwys for fs9 and one for fsx. but then someone would have put the wrong versino in the wrong directory, and, well, that wouldn't have been pretty.i will try to make v5 even easier, but there are things i need to know, that you need to know, to make it work. i need to know where your fs directory is, and i need to know where the .pln, .flt, .wx files are stored. the only way i will know that, is if you enter them. and you have to know where they are to enter it. i can't help there.long story short, sorry it was difficult. hope it was worth it.jd

JDIm pleased to report that I followed your directions and RC4 for FSX is now running as it should. I notice the font size difference in the display from FS9 to FSX is such that the the size is about 1/2 the size in FSX as it is in FS9. For us old timers its hard to read. Is this controlled by FSUIPC or is there a setting with RC4 or FSX that I can tweak to change it.Thanks for your efforts and Im looking forward to RC5Don

Well I just replaced the new rcv4.exe and makerwys.exe file with the new ones, rebuilt the scenery database and all works 100%. Easy as that.Stelios
