February 17, 200818 yr Just curious, when RC4 tells me to expect vectors to a runway, is it getting that info out of the AFCAD file, or does RC4 have it's own database for that info? I just landed on runway 9R at KORD which USED to be called runway 9L - RC4 called it by the old name "9L". Does that mean I need to update my AFCAD for KORD (if a current one is available) or does that mean I need to update radar contact?Another somewhat related question. The ILS course for the runway mentioned above is 093* in real life, but the RC4 window is giving me a 092* - it usually doesn't make any difference but I like to have my sim experience be as realistic as possible. Is the ILS course that RC4 gives based on the info in the AFCAD? (I've never messed around with AFCAD files so I don't know what info is contained in them).
February 17, 200818 yr Runway and airport information is extracted from your installed scenery including AFCADs by the Scenery Database Update Utility. Anytime you update airport scenery or AFCADs run this after running FS to let it reindex your scenery. If the current runway information you expect is not in your scenery RC will not recognize this. Update or get a new AFCAD/Scenery for KORD. There are some problems that runway renumbering in AFCAD can cause with ILSs. See if there are any updated sceneries or AFCADS in the libraries here. For added ILSs look for author jvile (Jim Vile). See if there are any offerings here also by FRS Studios (William Morgan) that use Jims approach scenery when available.I suggest you always place AFCADs in a folder (AFCADsscenery) you create that is added at the top of the FS Scenery list to insure that the RC database update gives the the highest priority. Also make sure you install the latest Makerwys.exe in your FS folder. The link is posted above. There is no direct editing of RC data that you should be performing.

I currently have a file called 'r4.csv' in my '/rcv4' folder and in my '/Flight Simulator 9' folder. Then the readme says I need to have an 'r5.csv' - which folder to I put all these newly created files into?EDIT: I think I'm answering my own question here. I ran 'makerwys.exe' and it modified my old 'r4.csv' file in my base fs9 folder, and also added 'r5.csv t5.csv g5.csv f5.csv' to my base fs9 folder. Is this correct? Anything else I need to do?

February 18, 200818 yr Clarifying what the "boss" said, you need to use the RC Scenery Database button in its window. This sets up a flow that runs makerwys.exe in your FS root folder and then automatically creates a couple of more data files and copies all of the data files to your rcv4data folder where RC looks for them.Running makerwys.exe directly will not update the data in the RC data folder.I also suggest that you create a text file with your path to FS and put a short to this file on your desktop. When you rebuild the scenery RC 4.3 will ask for this path and you can open the text file and copy the path, put your cursor in the dialog box that RC wants the path in, hit ctrl-v to paste this text in there. This saves a lot of typing as the path for rebuilding scenery does not "stick" in RC 4.3.

February 19, 200818 yr It is sticky in the beta if you are not a WideFS user. I am not networked so I have not checked this if the FS and RC workstations are not on the same PC.4.3 was rushed out the door to handle FSX and FS9 at the request of users, sometimes both. Top this off with the vagaries of Vista all in a small development time frame, as users switched back and forth and rebuilt the scenery database for one FS version and not the other, it was I think thought best to ask for the path each time, or something like that.
