Question on Vectors..after a SID

Recommended Posts

I am flying the PMDG 747. The route is KSJC to KRNO. I program the FMC, selecting the LOUPE departure, selecting runway 30L. The plane climbs out on a heading of 303 degrees, then starts the turn to 120 degrees. So far so good. The FMC, on the LEGS page, shows me the word VECTORS. Now what I expect is for Radar contact to give me vectors back to the San Jose VOR. But I never receive any vector information. Perhaps I am not understanding what Radar Contact expects when the FMC shows vectors?Jim

is the san jose vor within 30 miles of the airport? if so, you have to fly there. rc isn't going to vector you inside 30 miles, when you are flying a sidjd

Thanks for the input. Yes I am within 30 miles of the airport/VOR. I will manually fly the loop back to the checkpoint. Thanks again for explaining this procedure to me.Jim
