simwest Releases First Scenery simwestALBQ as Free Download

simwest introduces its first scenery simwestALBQ as part of its simwestFOTOREAL series with a free download.   simwestALBQ  covers the city and surrounding area of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA for both P3D and FSX versions.  “It’s a way to allow simmers to take a test flight of the scenery and check out the performance on their own PC systems”, says Marcus Thompson, the developer of simwestALBQ.  “We hope pilots will want to fly through our scenery and not just over it.”  The simwest goal is to provide performance, immersion and enjoyment when using our products.

    Features

1.3GB of custom daytime and nighttime photoreal scenery at 1.2m resolution

    ·         Approximately 45 square miles (117 square kilometers), in coverage

    ·         Seasonal winter snow in the Sandia mountains

    ·         Custom 3D night lighting

    ·         Custom placed building, vegetation and library objects autogen throughout the entire area

Increased road traffic for added immersion (optional)

    Who is simwest

simwest was created by Marcus Thompson.  Some of you may know him by his handle, ‘Clutch Cargo’ on many of the flightsim forums.  Active since FS2002, he developed the FlightDeck Sound Effects Panel (FDSFX) and 9Dragons Kai Tak Airport.

I see whats happening now. P3d Cant find it on the scenery list. Some bgls seem missing. Its loading C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\0202\scenery\APX19190.bgl

Instead.  Can you fix this? Thanks

I don't see what the issue is with the picture you posted. If you are talking about airport textures, this scenery addon does not replace or enhance the airport, or any airports. It only enhances the surrounding area with photo scenery plus autogen.

The issue is there is no afcad after the install, so P3d uses another bgl that is not the simwest afcad. So it actually is not the developers scenery. That is why the ground textures did not look right. When I chose KABQ from the airport list, it loaded the APX19190.bgl because it couldnt find the right afcad. Its very weird. The only thing I can think of is the installer did not put in the main afcad for the scenery? I couldnt find a bgl that was the afcad for the scenery of Albuquerque in its install folder. I removed it and reinstalled it twice. weird.

Given that the High Finance is there (the designer will doubtless be as sad as I was to find out that it's been demolished) I know the sim is loading the scenery for me. But there are texture issues on the cliffs north of Sandia Peak. They're very stretched out.

simwestALBQ does not alter KABQ in any way.  We do not include an AFCAD. You can try adding/using a 3rd party AFCAD to see if that will help your issue.  Check out the simwestALBQ Pilot's Guide.

For any questions, you can contact us at projects@simwest.com.  Thx.

Ok, so I get it. So its not the sunport airport at all, Its just the city and surrounding area. I wish the texture worked for me but its white and bright on my sim. I will have to pass on this one. It may be conflicting with orbx?  THanks anyway.

Installer does not recognize FSX-SE on my computer.  The only flight sim I have installed.  Sent Simwest two E-mails about a week apart.  Have not yet heard back from them.

Did you try selecting "FSX" on the menu?

    Mine looks nothing like that.

    Do you use PTA shaders?

The only time I've seen textures washed out like that are with certain PTA presets.

Capt Lou,  just saw your post here.  Never received any emails from you I am sorry to say.  Did you try the suggestion above selecting FSX?  If issues, try contacting me again a projects@simwest.com.

    Good afternoon,

I have tried to install this scenery, but now I have a problem. The predominate color in my scenery is black.  I do have color on the F22but as far as the scenery is concerned it is mostly black with white outlines of buildings.  Of course I have done something wrong but I would like to get my P3D v4.5 sim back.  The color problem is across the board, on all of my scenery not just Albuquerque.  I have tried to delete and reinstall but I have not solved the problem.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

I installed using FSX rather than FSX-SE and it worked.  My only other problem with this, and other photo real sceneries is that it looks terrific when flying over but the buildings disappear when flying low or taxiing.

Where in the scenery library is it listed? If you have it at the top, try lowering it just below "Global, Generic & Vehicle Libraries" and see if that helps.
