    Chuck_Jodry-VJPL

New from the Just Flight development team - the twin-engine T-tail Duchess Model 76 is now on sale for P3D and FSX!

With IFR-capable avionics, excellent handling characteristics and counter-rotating propellers, the Duchess is an ideal aircraft for multi-engine flight training and the perfect step up from single-engine aircraft such as the PA-28. A cruise speed of 155 knots, a range of 780 nautical miles and a service ceiling of 20,000ft also make it a very capable touring aircraft.

    The Duchess Model 76 is for For P3D v1-v4, FSX & FSX:SE, priced at £27.99 / €34.95 / $41.99

It comes in eleven paint schemes from around the world and boasts a fully functional and comprehensive IFR-capable avionics fit which includes a WX-8 Stormscope and Century IV autopilot. The electrical, fuel, hydraulic and engine management systems are all all custom-coded and the aircraft features include a Flight Computer and Refill Menu, optional failures, Flight1 GTN and GNS integration, custom engine and cockpit sounds and interactive checklists.

    Hi Folks,

Looks good - if anyone picks her up - I'm looking for a PIREP on the FDE... From watching the new video (maybe it's just the video) but all the flashing stuff on the spinners when in motion - is very distracting and doesn't look so hot - with real chromed spinners - the shine doesn't rotate with the spinner - it stays stationary - perhaps a more traditional paint of the spinner would help ??? I love the Duchess so this is potentially on my list to buy if I see some good feedback...

I'd also like to see RXP compatibility - as they are the products I choose to use...

    Regards,
    Scott

I loved the cheaper FlightSchool version JF put out of this plane. So many good memories of old stinky Duchesses to get a multi-engine rating. Man, the last one smelled like sweat, mold, and there was no carpet left where your feet would go because of all the rudder-to-the-floor, single engine operating it did. Good times

    Hi Scott,

Hah - the fate of an aircraft in a flight school... There's always a "Sid"...

I'd hold off a bit Scott until quite a bit of "kinks" are worked out.  The flight dynamics are off and it's like it's still in beta stage.  The folks at Just Flight typically do end up getting things right but in my opinion this one was released before it's time. I had that older version and to be quite honest the FDE of that model was more realistic than this newer version.

    Hi Gary,

Thanks for the PIREP - yeah - had the old one with the silly GPS as well... Yeah - I'm an FDE aficionado - so if it doesn't fly like it should - I'll be disappointed... Been in a Duchess a few times - so I have some idea as to how they should fly... Seems that the JF Archer and the JF Duchess have none of the fanfare that accompanied the JF Arrow releases... Would certainly like to see a few words from Martin or whomever developed this - posted on our forum - to see an active interest and an intent to get it right...

I'll hold off until I see a more positive indication...

    Regards,
    Scott

Its true. I also purchased the Archer and there are some serious graphical bugs that are still not fixed. I also have the felling that JF has rushed these releases which would be okay if they were fast updating them. Rushing a release and waiting months to fix the bugs is not good for sure. I think they were rushing to release many aircraft and that has an impact on quality. Lets hope they get the feedback and focus on the fixes.

Thanks for the interest in the Duchess.  If it helps there will be a demo available soon so you'll be able to make up your own mind. An update was made available over the weekend just a couple of days after release so hopefully that indicates the level of commitment.  Details of the update can be found here:

    http://forum.justflight.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=32512&title=max-obtainable-speed-jf-archer-iii

    Hope that helps.

Have you tried the new update with the updated FDE, Gary?

This was developed by Martyn and the team, many who were involved in the Arrow releases too.

We think this is right up there in terms of quality with the Arrow but then that's your call, everyone entitled to their own opinion, no issues with that.

As mentioned above an update has already been applied to the Duchess and we're already hoping to have a subsequent FDE update ready later this week too.

    Hope that helps.

If you're referring to the Archer and Duchess, neither have been rushed out for release, of that I can assure you.  Regarding updates, you're hardly going to be waiting months for them, first Duchess update was two days after release and likely to be a further FDE update for that this coming week.

Archer - currently assessing and reviewing any bugs and issues that have been reported.

Have you reported the serious graphical bugs to us already?  We're certainly not aware of anything major and wouldn't have released if there were serious issues but if reported and found to be correct we'll ensure the fixes and changes are made where required.

Obviously these two and other products are currently in development so managing them in terms of collating all issues, checking them out, doing the work, testing the work can sometimes take time but we'll not leave any issues unattended and everything will get addressed.

    Again, I hope that helps.

Thank you for the reply Scott. I will step back from my assumptions then as long as you are looking at fixing the issues. Yes, I have submitted a ticket for the Archer but the reply was that no time frame can be given.

I have sent you a PM regarding the Archer issues so you make sure they will be taken care of.

Again thank you for the very quick response here.

    Hi Scott,

Hah - we have a surplus of "Scott's" in this thread...

Thanks for the interest and information... Yep - the "Demo" sounds excellent and a very fair way to do business....

This seems to be the largest global site for this hobby - so it's always nice to see a little interest and interaction with the developer here... Granted you can't be everywhere all the time...

Again - I would like to reiterate my preference for RXP gauges - while I own the F1 pack as well - the RXP versions seem to be the better choice...

I'll be looking forward to the demos so I can get a first hand look at the FDE's...

Question: There's only the black livery with a US registration ?

Nice PIX of the non-stinky real deal...

    Scott,

I haven't as of yet because I have had so much going on at work.  I probably won't get to test it out until this weekend.  If you don't mind, can you please explain what changes were made so I know exactly what to expect?

More work to be carried out on the Duchess to tweak the FDE further but for now the changes per update are these:

    v1.03

    - Updated FDE

    - Minor engine management changes

    - Elevator trim - fixed

    v1.02

    - Updated FDE

    - Initialises the aircraft with the auto-trim system switched off by default.

    v1.01

    - Avionics back-lighting fixed

    - Disabling engine management (the default option) now enables 'simple start' mode, allowing you to start the engines without priming or risk of flooding

    - Standby altimeter barometric pressure setting fixed

    - Primer controls are now spring-loaded to OFF after two seconds

    - Auto-trim now disabled below 100ft AGL

    Thanks
    Scott

    Scott,

Very nice job on the improvements!!  The updated FDE is a lot more realistic as far as the aircraft lifting off at rotation speed, it's climbing characteristics, and it's airspeed.  Very well done.  I know Rome wasn't built in a day, therefore I'm sure the aesthetics with the spinners will come at a later date but flying this little baby is now a joy!! Thanks for continuing to strive for excellence with your products.

    Hi Folks,

Yep - that does sound encouraging... Good to hear...

Fix the spinners a bit and provide RXP support and I'll buy it...

    Thanks Gary.

We do try, it's not always as simple as people on the outside envisage, for a varying reasons, but we will always where possible we continue to work on and and support products post-release.

Spinner aesthetics definitely being looked at.

    Regards
