@psolk So how is it ?

Mine should be here tomorrow after I just paid  her Majesty's customs to let it continue it's journey.

@jon b it's phenomenal...  Really adds to the immersion of ground operations and quite frankly forces me to pay attention to taxi geometry and my turning speed far more than before!  Look and feel is really solid, all in all I am really pleased.  I programmed the pedal disco button to ctrl+shft+F12 for GSX too so as I am leaving the active and using the tiller I can make my GSX call all with one motion.  I think you will be really happy.

Thanks very much for that reply psolk, brilliant news.

Yes, I think it's going to be one of those great things no one knew they needed until they've actually got one.

Good idea for the GSX use. The 787 has a pedal disconnect button in a similar design but I'm not sure if the QW software will allow it's realistic use.

I'm also expecting delivery of a thrustmaster TCA airbus stick and throttle  set tomorrow so it should be a busy day of setting things up, though my rig is becoming too airbus orientated for my liking 😊

    Hi rob

Glad your tiller got there safely.

As you correctly noted it is hand crafted and as such it does have that feeling.

Thanks for the observations. Just so that you know the real a320 centre button does turn freely which I simulated in this unit (I never knew why). The four way switch does have a very small play as you noted, and it is the limitation of the switch module itself which unfortunately I have no control over. It shouldn’t affect you switching views though. It will take a little bit of practice to get used to it but I find it very useful looking around during taxiing.

Here is a quick video I shot of the real pedal disco button.

I read Robs review. From what I saw the size and the angle of the tiller is representative of the actual Airbus tiller from the photos on the website.

Mine arrived today and all I can say is WOW, this is exactly what I have been missing for years. No more using joystick twist or rudder pedals to taxi around the airport. My hand sits nicely on the tiller and is comfortable to use. I've tried it with all the PMDG, FSLabs, TFDI and the Maddog. I pretty much spent the afternoon taxing around the airport. The biggest joy was taxing around in the FSLabs and we know how finicky that can be. This time it was nice, smooth and precise. I followed the video instructions for the complete setup. I will provided more feedback later but I wanted to drop a quick thanks to Nobby for a great product and communication. Now it's time to do a flight.

Mine arrived today, too. I am really satisfied with this product. Setting it up was absolutely hasslefree. Like said above it adds a lot to the immersion. I must learn to taxi again. Communication with Nobby was always prompt and friendly. I am very glad that i have bought this product.

Just an update for those with two hat switches, one on Joystick/Yoke and the one on the tiller. If you use Chaseplane you can only configure one hat switch axis at a time. I used FSUIPC to make key commands for the Tiller Hat Switch so I could look left or right during taxi when in virtual Cockpit. I used CTRL + Left Arrow and CTRL + Right Arrow for my key assignments. Just make sure you don't have those keys assigned in P3D. In external view I just used P3D's Lt, Rt, Up, Dn Pan Views for the tiller switches works fine.

Mine arrived the other day and it’s amazing. I’ve been looking for a high quality reasonably priced tiller for quite a while, and the cat3design is it!  It’s built with high quality materials and to exacting specifications.  It’s sturdy, feels good in your hand, and has nice solid resistance thru the turn without feeling “springy.” It works flawlessly and looks the part too. And most importantly, it dramatically improves the immersion factor. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a tiller, regardless if you use it with the ‘Bus or a MD80, or 787, or ATR.....you get the point. This thing is awesome!  Go buy it!

Is anyone using this with the new Microsoft flight simulator or just p3d?

I did a quick research on the compatibility as I don’t use MSFS (at least yet). It seems as though it does not have a dedicated steering axis therefore any attempt to simulate a realistic tiller may be met with difficulties...

    Hi everyone

The FO edition should be ready for production in a few days time - thanks for those who pre-ordered. We had a customer who wanted B777 color skin instead of the standard Airbus one, and we found appropriate faux leather for it! Let us know if you want that option in the note when you place your order!

Also, we intend to do some live VATSIM flights using Cat3Design Tiller and real world SOP. Subscribe to our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3cCw9XmJ2AEmT5a8isC0yw if you are interested.

It’s been 3 years since I flew a real 320 and my company (now defunct) transferred me to the dark side to fly that other  popular single-aisle machine.  As an avid simmer, recently I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Tiller by Cat3Design to use with the FSLabs A3XXX fleet.

My very first thought was, “Wow - this has just transformed my taxying experience!” It was immediately recognisable in feel and response, and does a superb job of simulating the real-world A320 tiller. It may be a little smaller and a little lighter, but after having flown the real aircraft for 7 1/2 years I can say that this tiller feels very authentic and fits under my fingertips perfectly. It could be argued that one’s sensibilities might have been dulled after several years of trucking around in a used 737, but this felt so natural from the first use that I began to wonder why I had put up with anything else in 28 years of simming, especially in the past 7 years of FSLabbing. It easily reminds me of the plane I used to fly, and nothing about it makes me think, “Oh, he should change this or that…” There are plenty of photos and reviews about other aspects of the package so I won’t repeat those efforts here, but I will  say that as a real world A320 pilot I give this product my full endorsement.

One question I had was where to put it. I have found that it is sized very well for the desktop environment and isn’t as bulky as I thought it would be. The cable is plenty long enough to allow the unit to be moved around easily as necessary.

Cat3Design is committed to providing excellent customer service and I can personally attest to this manufacturer’s credibility and integrity as well.
