• simwestSOCAL Released

Just in time for the 4th-of-July holiday in the USA, simwest continues its simwestFOTOREAL series with the release of simwestSOCAL scenery for beautiful, sunny, Southern California.

The scenery covers a vast area of the region from south of Barstow down south to the Mexican border, from the Pacific Ocean (islands included), east to the California/Arizona border.  Some 180 default airports can be found in the coverage area or one can add their own favorite detailed 3rd-party airport to further enhance the scenery*.

Designed for both P3D and FSX versions, the simwest goal is to provide performance, immersion and enjoyment.

    Features:

Thousands of square miles of 1.2m high definition, color corrected aerial photo imagery.

Imagery that blends into surrounding scenery reducing that “hard border” look when transitioning to default or other custom scenery.

Millions of custom placed buildings, vegetation and library objects autogen throughout entire area.

Water-masked rivers, reservoir’s and lakes to fly with your favorite float plane.

    Custom created nighttime photoreal textures.

Seasonal winter snow in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Custom designed 3D night lighting not just for roads but occasional parking lots, shopping centers, golf courses, farms and parks to add variety and immersion.

    Note:

Internet connection is required to activate this product.
*Adding 3rd-party airports may vary in compatibility and looks.

Further information available from the simwestSOCAL   Product Page.

Attention pilots - please be aware that simwestSOCAL is a very large installation.  During install it may appear it has "frozen" or locked up.  That is not the case.  It can take literally up to 5 minutes before you see the installation progress bar start moving.  Please be patient.  Thx.

Clutch - Would you happen to have any video presentation of what simwestSOCAL looks like?

Hi Troy,  and thank you for your interest.  We were so busy just getting the release out I did not have the time to get one made (we're just a one-man shop 😊).  At present, the best I can suggest is download simwestALBQ to get a first impression that way regarding performance on your PC and the "look" of simwest.  But remember,  simwestSOCAL is about 60 times larger than simwestALBQ!  Also, check out the multiple screenshots you can find on its product page.  If you like what you see, then I would think you would enjoy simwesSOCAL (and simwestSANDIEGO).

Let me add that the simwestFOTOREAL series is meant to serve as a "base" scenery as an alternative to landclass based scenery or as a "boost" to the typical, standard photoreal scenery, where one can use simwest on it's own or add more detailed 3rd-party payware or freeware airports.

    Hope that helps.

Good questions... it can be installed with orbx.  For the Global landclass I would have it at a higher priority.  For airport compatibility, well - I will let you be the judge.  I have posted some samples of airports mixed with simwestSOCAL in the screenshot forums here so check 'em out.  Only you can decide if they meet to your satisfaction.
