    Chuck_Jodry-VJPL

TDS Sim Software, a new company, but with vast experience in the Flight Simulator add-on and training field is proud to announce the launch of its first product: TDS GTNXi Flight Sim, which has been designed for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

The most accurate representation of the GTNXi, which is a natural evolution of the old GTN units, it contains all the features that you have been used to from the old GTN units along with a wealth of new features: improved and higher resolution and faster graphics, modern interface look, faster startup time, glide range ring, autopilot altitude arc, user selectable outer knob logic, user selectable startup page and more. Additionally, the GTNXi is capable of flying full RF Procedure Legs (Next Generation radius-to-fix) which give the pilot greater access to airports with challenging terrain.

This product is capable of flying autopilot coupled LPV approaches as well as the new style Visual Approaches!

Looks like it won't be integrated in the aircraft cockpit, but running in an independent 2D window. I'm maybe wrong, but this would be a step back for me.

On the majority of a/c where the 750 was installed in panel, I popped it up anyway for legibility. This one just starts out that way and it seems to work with any aircraft with an autopilot. I like it.

How does the nav data get updated? does this happen on this?

yeah more info on the navigraph link please

Same as how RealityXP or Flight1 updates their NavDB, they use Garmin trainers which require different datasets than what Navigraph supplies.

Navigraph won't be supporting the Garmin trainers AFAIK, so atm you're going to have to stick with the 2004 database it comes with or upgrade it.

The GTN's for MSFS don't use the Garmin Trainers anymore.

    I do.

The PMS50 GTN is very good, not sure if you've tried it.

In fairness, I have not tried it. I haven't installed FS2020 since December of last year.

Tried both. Prefer the TDS - more functionality. The PMS product is good but limited in scope currently.

I hope this is an error but section 8 of the EULA says that this a yearly subsription? Surely not, or am I mistaken.

Glenn, the license for the TDS GTNXi is permanent, it is NOT a yearly subscription. This was a mistake on the website which has been corrected, sorry for the confusion!

This Product Definitely has a lot of hurdles to climb (MSFS SDK/API related by the way...) to get to where we have had the Reality XP product in the other sims.

I have been wanting one of these in MSFS for a long time and I will have to live with the problems for now.  I will wait a little bit to get more comfortable with in before taking it on VATSIM, Note that the operation is not the issue that makes it fantastic to use on Vatsim 🙂 but rather it will in regards to the PFD and Flight Director not getting correct annunciations or display on Approaches..

I did a "first impressions" video where I install and fly it for the first time in the SR22 ...  Normally I would have done a couple of flights before actually recording it.. but hey figured why not share the experience :)....  If you already have the trainer installed it will say it is there but make sure you Launch from the Garmin Launcher and add the Xi version of the GTN... otherwise the TDS installer will say it is installed but when it launches will not be able to find the trainer....  If you "re-install" it will do that step for you but might also remove your other versions...
