Austin Meyer, founder of Laminar Research and the father of X-plane, was interviewed yesterday by the "CBS This Morning" news program. The interview had to do with "Patent Trolls" and his fight to do "what's right" against a lawsuit which has been brough again Laminar Research by Uniloc Corporation. Uniloc has brought a lawsuit against Meyer and his company for violating a patent it owns that deals with applications that communicate, or "dial home" to another computer for authorization to activate. Lawsuits like these are frequently settled out of court in order to save the expense of fulling litigating them to a jury trial. Meyer has said that he will press on and not settle, because it is the "right thing to do". You can read the full article and the video interview with Austin here.
