AVSIM Is Looking for an IT Guru Volunteer!

    Tom Allensworth

AVSIM is looking for an IT manager that is very experienced and willing to volunteer to maintain and keep our systems running at peak efficiency. This person must be a U.S. Citizen and must reside in the U.S. The volunteer must provide at least five verifiable references and a resume detailing at least 5 years of experience in an IT technical position. Preferably, this person should live in the middle east coast area, and be available to travel on reasonable notice (weekends, etc.) to supervise services provided to our hardware located in northern Virginia. Needless to say, being a flight simming enthusiast will add significantly to our consideration of this person. Ideally, the candidate will have the following critical experience:

    • Unix / Linux (Centos Linux)
    • Apache server
    • MySQL
    • DNS, LDAP, DHCP, FTP, SSH
    • NAS, Switches, Router, Ethernet configurations and mapping
    • PHP Admin

Tools that will initially be available to the candidate will be Webmin, Usermin, SSH Telnet, FTP, NAS front end software, and router administration among others.

Additional skills that are "nice to have" would be web design, Java, familiarity with IPBoard, management of subcontractors and an ability to work under pressure when necessary.

This is a very senior position within AVSIM and could result in appointment to the AVSIM Board of Directors with time and experience. As a BOD member, this position contributes to the direction and policies of AVSIM and helps to establish AVSIM Community outreach and charitable initiatives.

If you are interested in this position, please email your resume and references to bod@avsim.com. DO NOT post a reply to this in the forums.

Please only respond if you are serious about the position and are willing to volunteer your time to the management and continuing success of the flight simulation community's premier resource.
