    Air Berlin 737-800 Retirement
     
    After decades of flying a specific type of aircraft, it’s always a sad moment to see the retirement of an aircraft that has had a close connection to the men and women who fly it. In this programme, we will be following Captain Florian Deiters and First Officer Michail Tounas, as they fly one of the final flights of the B737-800 operated by Air Berlin from Munich to Hurghada.
    As is the case with most aviation documentaries, we begin by joining the crew in the cockpit of the 737-800 as they complete their departure briefing and other flight preparations. For anyone who is interested in what takes place in the cockpit prior to departure, this segment may be especially insightful. Another interesting segment is the pushback process which was captured from a perspective that is seldom seen by the travelling public. With cameras mounted on the tug itself, viewers for the first time will have the opportunity to see the entire pushback process showing how the aircraft is connected, elevated and controlled by the tug. This was a very insightful segment of this programme and I think everyone will find it intriguing.
    After taxi and takeoff, we have the privilege of seeing some of the most stunning views from the cockpit of the 737. During our flight to Hurghada, the Captain discusses many interesting topics such as how he got into aviation and the joys of flying the B737 Classic and NG models. In the typical Pilotseye cinematic fashion, viewers are transported from the cockpit to the Air Berlin hangar as our F.O and Capt. Recount their tour of the B737 exterior to point out some of the significant changes to the 737 over the years.
    After a smooth night time landing in Hurghada, we rejoin the flight crew as they prepare for their return flight to Munich. For this leg of the trip, our F.O engages the viewers with a discussion on how he got into aviation which was ironically linked to a cockpit visit on a 737-200 when he was just 9 years old. Being inspired at such a young age, little did he know that he would one day fly the B737 NG.
    After an uneventful landing, not only does it bring this intriguing programme to an end, but it also brings an end to the operations of the B737 for Air Berlin. With the operations of this aircraft well documented in this visually and sonically stunning programme, enthusiast and Air Berlin staff will be able to reflect on and appreciate the years of service that this aircraft has given to the airline. In addition to providing moments of nostalgia for years to come, this video documentary will also be a source of entertainment for aviation enthusiast around the world for years to come.

    November is Update month at FS2Crew , and that said we've just updated two major products (with more to come this month!).
    The P3D V4 versions of FS2Crew for the Aerosoft Airbus Pro and iFly 737NG have received updates.
    Both programs are advanced airline crew simulations for each respective aircraft.  
    Users assume the role of the Captain and Pilot Flying, and control the simulation via Voice or Button Control.
    Multiple voice sets are available.
    The updates are built into the main installer only.  Please login to your FS2Crew account and click "Completed Orders", then re-download and re-install.

    Ground Environment X Region Updates

    Flight One Software has officially announced that all Ground Environment X region products have been updated and released. GEX supports both Flight Simulator X boxed edition and Flight Simulator X Steam Edition. All GEX region product installers have been updated at the Flight1 web site with the latest versions. It is important to note that all of your installed GEX regions must be updated at the same time. The updates are free for previous version customers.

    As has always been, GEX regions listed below will continue to include a free upgrade to GEX North America version 2.20 (with older versions of GEX North America installed).

    October 21, 2018 | FSSI, a new company formed by several veteran Flight Sim software developers, is delighted to announce an Open Beta of their first product: the SimIn SDK.
     
    The SimIn SDK is an advanced development kit for Prepar3D V3 and V4 that provides oft-requested functionality past the capabilities of both SimConnect and the PDK. The SimIn SDK can be used by aircraft developers via a C gauge or using the included C to XML bridge, or even by scenery or tools developers via a dll.xml-loaded plugin. It is easy to get started, with sample projects and documentation included, and community support provided in our forum.
     
    The SDK, using this revolutionary SimIn engine, is designed to interact with the simulator in a way that proactively handles future upgrades to P3D. Developers can ship products using SimIn technology with the peace-of-mind that upgrades of their product should not be necessary for every single new build of P3D that is released in the future.
     
    In the Open Beta, their initial functionality includes:
     
    Terrain Service: Reads terrain raster (DEM, LandClass, Population, WaterClass, etc.) data in-sim, for any place in the world. It also contains APIs to read vector data (Roads, Water, etc.). You can query a grid of cells for each type via an asynchronous callback.  
    Facilities Service: Reads all airports, runways, taxiways, airways, scenery objects, and any other facility data present in the simulator. Similarly to the terrain service, queries can be issued for any point on the earth in realtime, as a grid, radius, or even at the user location.  
    FDE Service: Allows the user to read and change fixed AIR data in-sim, on the fly creating dynamic air tables from any field present in the .air or aircraft.cfg files.  
    Effect Service, Allows the user to change, as in the FX Tool, many different effect parameters dynamically at runtime. A sample is provided that shows the basics of dynamic lighting.  
    Core Functions and G2D Service: Exposes several internal simulator methods programmatically, included access to set a screen color effect, set the sim volume sliders, and read and write the Ground Friction physics coefficients.  
    With the SimIn SDK, any developer can build addons once thought impossible, such as an airport moving map gauge in a modern jet, a high fidelity GPS or TAWS based on actual data, dynamic lighting based on SimVars or UI input for Scenery or Aircraft, or even an entirely new flight model by dynamically modifying AIR tables at runtime. Backed by the power of the SimIn SDK, the possibilities for developers are endless.

    The Open Beta contains an information box that is shown at sim startup, but is otherwise unlimited. The SimIn SDK will be free for developers of freeware projects when shipped as a shared DLL.  We will also support commercial licenses, with more flexible license terms and the ability to compile your code together with SimIn provided as a .lib. Any commercial developers that are interested are encouraged to contact FSSI for more info.

    The PA-28-181 Archer III is a four-seater, piston-engine aircraft equipped with a fixed tricycle landing gear, 180hp four-cylinder engine and fixed-pitch propeller. Certified in the mid-1990s, the Archer III is one of the most recent PA-28 variants to be built, reflected in its streamlined cowling and cockpit overhead panel controls.
