  1. Past hour
  2. As with any software, things get by the beta team. Fortunately you have one of the best developers working on the product and he is aware of these anomalies. Some with the Fenix are fine and some having the same issues. I'm sure Damien will get it resolved in a bit.
  3. I don't believe that. MSFS2024 has much more going for it for Asobo to worry about a 3PD weather add-ons. I think it's more to do with ignorance of less detail-orientated flight simmers (and I mean that in a non-disparaging way). People don't necessarily understand the benefits of multiple cloud layers, variety of cloud types and historical weather data. When I started out flight simming, ubiquitous big, puffy, visually-appealing cumulus clouds would have also suited me just fine. Now that I'm using complex aircraft, trying to get a long-haul heavy out of OMDB at noon just isn't going to happen, I'd need a 6 to 9-hour time revert. Neither is a bug-smashing VFR flight where the METAR is reporting +FZDZ BKN008 FEW015. The 3PD weather add-ons have demonstrated that they are more capable than MSFS2020's Live Weather in a lot.of respects, but (IMO) a lot of people consider it to be good enough for their less demanding needs.
  4. I need a new one badly. It might be the 2k community addons I'm using hahahah.
  5. For me, it makes perfect sense. MSFS 2024 is just around the corner. The focus now is on polishing it, putting the final touches, preparing it for release and fixing any bugs and issues that appear afterwards. Asobo cannot handle having to prepare MSFS 2024 for release and still have to deal with bug-fixing a new Sim Update for MSFS 2020 at the same time.
  6. Great minds think alike and all that! I cringed on that too but and I hope I don't step on any ties but Emmanuel is German - I was married to a wonderful German woman for 20 years and they have, IMHO, a different way of viewing things. I really think he believed that to be a compliment and that he had no agenda with the title. But I cringed......
  7. Must be very, very old. I've never heard that one. Must be a Northern thing. 😉
  8. Both aircraft were shown in the 2024 trailer, just didn't know that it came from IniBuilds. Darryl
  9. Are you overclocking your CPU or GPU, or both?
  10. Have you tried just not looking at it? Or replacing it yourself? Minimize the screen, or go get a drink while it’s loading.
  11. This is really awesome and unprecedented. How fantastic is it gonna be to see a sim come out and from day one, every default plane is high quality.
  12. Oh, if they're going to do that, that's pretty cool. I figure I will run 2024 alongside 2020 for a while. I may need to get another SSD though ugh.
  13. Hi, Scott. I suspect that will be a bridge too far for Captain Sim. I mean they cant even do paratroop doors or a ramp that open in flight let alone air deflector doors (for para) or working ski's! I expect your friend was mostly likely a VXE-6 pilot. Every austral summer season, VXE-6 would deploy 'ski bird' Hercs to Antarctica. The first flights for the season, known as Operation WINFLY, started from Christchurch in about August of each year and were primarily focused on sending snow plough and blower equipment to Mc Murdo in order to carve out the ice runway for the wheeled aircraft (USAF C-141 Starlifters and RNZAF C-130's) later in October. As the name WINFLY suggests these flights would occur in low light and winter conditions making the flights somewhat perilous and apt to having to use the designated "whiteout area'' at Mc Murdo in earnest should the weather clag in. This meant flying a specific heading while descending in IMC (ie no visibility and flying on instruments only) at a set rate of decent until the aircaft effectively 'hit' the ground. Flying in Antarctica is a hazardous operation at the best of times, and VXE-6 have had some fatal accidents involving their Hercs. Once the ice runway was operational, the wheeled 'open up ' flights began in October relieving VXE-6 of the Christchurch to McMurdo runs and allowing them to deploy to Antarctica where they would continue their support to the National Science Foundation (NSF) including regular flights from McMurdo to South Pole Station, for the remainder of the season. As mentioned earlier, The RNZAF would conduct preplanned flights from Christchurch to McMurdo with about 12 C130 return flights in support of our own NZ Antarctic Research (NZAR) program and Scott Base resupply. Weather caused constant cancellations For both us and VXE-6 and so needless to say we used to spend a lot of down-time in McMurdo with VXE-6 crews. So I possibly met your friend at some stage, and while I'm sure neither of us would remember each other, we would most likely have enjoyed each others company. In any case, please give him/her my regards. Cheers Terry
  14. Hi all. I'm currently having an issue at busy European airports (Heathrow and Paris being the one's I've seen this in thus far). Namely there will be a sudden CTD. Each time it generally has this error log or some variation therein. I use AIG traffic, PMDG 777, and AI Companion. I'm not strictly sure where to go with this. Previous pages on the forums relate to P3D V3 and one fix is to use it in compatibility mode for windows 8, but I don't know if that will lead to performance loss, which is an issue I've been dealing on and off with for a bit. Signed Jon.
  15. ‘Chinny reckon’, to use an old UK term.😄
  16. Mine was the question on the tie popping / bleed through. DX11 / DX12. I was very pleased that the question was asked, and quite surprised actually, although I did phrase it very politely. However, I was not so pleased with the answer... . Firstly, they acknowledged the DX11 tile popping (Jorg even witnessed it himself) and they said they now believe they have fixed it... Probably! One comment made was that they believe it wasn't a new problem, but they think it has been happening for some time. Really? No sheet sherlock! This proves they do not read or understand the threads on their own official forum, going on for at least 18 months I reckon. It feels like talking to a brick wall sometimes. On the DX12 bleed through, answers given were such as, "well DX12 has a lot of bugs", and "it's a big world!" They really didn't seem to understand the issue once again. Credit to Jayne at this point. She seemed to realise the question had been passed over once again, so she persisted, and along with the outcry on the live feed (with one person saying Jorg doesn't know what he is talking about, which seemed to rattle him a bit), they promised to look into it once again, with a separate thread being opened for the issue. This is a disgrace. There are already threads and reports of this going back for some time with photos and videos of the problem making the issue quite clear. Once again, do they actually read them? There definitely seems to be a disconnect. On a brighter note, I am delighted the Skyvan is being modelled as a local legend. It will sit alongside my SD330 / SD360. (Basically the same family of aircraft for those that don't know). @Nemo will know - the skydiving version pictured in his avatar is being modelled. I saw the exact plane in the flesh at Zell am See in Austria I believe.
  17. maybe the historic "snapshots" will be more frequent than ASFS's hourly's ..... so SPECI's & half hourly metars are seen where available to better match time & TAF's
  18. Hopefully MS2024 will have less giant trees spoiling the view.
  19. MSFS excellent for "eye candy" and slow VFR flying. That's how I use it! However, P3dV5.4 is my absolute "go to" simulator. It's absolutely awesome with its incredible addons and just pure enjoyment when flying long distances and ease of operation (especially with the AP). Can't wait to fire up P3d tomorrow. I just flew from Estonia to Frankfurt for real because my wife and I took a vacation to the Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia) and as I was flying into Frankfurt, I noticed that the skyline was incredibly beautiful and it looked exactly the same when I flew into Frankfurt in P3d. Perfect!
  20. Today
  21. Yes and Thank You! Mea Culpa and already corrected. Thanks again, -B
  22. The inability for 3rd party products to access MSFS weather data will be even more of a hindrance with 24 hr historical weather. Products like ATC add-ons and flight planners need access to the same weather that MSFS is depicting. At the moment it's not too bad because they access the current live weather from other sources, which are approximately the same as MSFS data. With MSFS 2024 I reckon that even if they can get hold of historical data from somewhere there will be more room for differences between their data and MSFS data. I hope that 3rd party developers do not take view that the best way to match up the data is to only support ASFS for historical weather.
  23. Could that actually be YMMV. TANSTAAFL? Your Mileage May Vary. There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch! 🤔
  24. Luvvly Jubbly! The A400M will be very welcome in my hangar, and I do love a weird airliner conversion!👌
  25. Time is time. The @#$# sim shouldn't be changing it. I noticed it changed time several months ago when I traveled across a time zone so I ignore its time. I use engine hours to time my flights. At least some nitwit programmer hasn't gotten to that yet!
