This stream auto-updates

  1. Past hour
  2. Of course... What do you think pilots are displaying on their tablets? Forecasts and observations, right? Where do observations come from? METARs. That's literally what a METAR is, simply an accurate, standardized observation of weather conditions over an airport. Without METARs, all we would have would be forecasts. No one in their right mind (and no commercial operator, legally) would commence an approach without an idea of what to expect at the other end of it. Without METARs, there's nowhere else to get that information.
  3. Slow updates, but nowhere near abandoned. Currently on Technical Update 7.0 - Public Beta 3
  4. METARS are not only for VATSIM. While I am a VATSIM member, I don’t fly on the network all that often. They are of use for anyone who uses real-time flight planning tools and charts. When I am flying from point A to B, I constantly monitor the latest METARS and also the current digital ATIS which is available online for most larger airports. It affects all aspects of my flight planning - including which departure runway I will use, and which specific STAR and approach I can expect at the destination.
  5. Anybody know if the Airac is updatable in Activesky
  6. Another city update next month? I really would prefer more world updates…
  7. Wouldn't be a poor imitation of snowing outside?🌨️
  8. Yes Andy and thank you, there are more great sceneries by superspud, he really can do it. Thank's a lot! And thank you PM! 🙂 Glad you like it Bernd, it was some information for me to see Helgoland because I have never been there.
  9. Here is the only place where I found fair and balanced opinions about Active Sky FS. On Reddit, on YT and even on MSFS forum, people are working harder to try to frame it as 'cash grab' or unnecessary, basing their opinions on uneducated guesses (Weather API is closed, so it's definitely rubbish), bad experience with other addons like REX or even on a single streamer who couldn't get Active Sky to work, uninstalled and called it a trash.
  10. Nice video you made there @Cpt_Piett, I enjoyed it. And if we are being honest, I think your Norwegian could use a little work 😉 😁
  11. As for the YouTube weather experts that did a live review without bothering to read any of the documentation on this program , it is 82 pages long and very detailed.
  12. Haven't lost my setting ever! MSFS stores them on the "cloud". One way to assure accessibility to you "cloud" setting is to keep your xbox app and windows are up to date. Also make sure no 3rd party antivirus programs blocking anything
  13. …one of the strangest comments I’ve read on any aviation related forum in a long, long time. You couldn’t be further from the truth if you tried. I mean…what!?
  14. i have msfs thru steam on a dedicated drive not my C drive, ill figure it out
  15. This software has a feature that is missing in MSFS2020, and it is definitely something that should be mentioned. Under custom WX "surface visibility" can be set manually, unfortunately, RVR is missing as a value that can be set. Hopefully next update?
  16. Getting pretty tired of having to re-set my settings every week or so because MSFS gets amnesia. Anyone figure out why this is happening and more importantly, how to stop it yet?
  17. Yes, so do I! I use ForeFlight as my EFB and have the radar overlay turned on. The radar showed the rain over the field but the clearance was just west of the field by a few miles. Loaded REX Weatherforce and Rain over the field. Took off and almost exactly where ForeFlight showed the rain stopping in real world, it stopped in the sim!
  18. I just went through this dance. Here's what I found works the easiest and most reliably... I remapped (in the sim's native mapping) the quest buttons. I couldn't find a reliable way to get the thumbstick axis to work with sliders and such or "grabbing" or "trigger grabbing" them and sliding/flipping them, so I gave up on that. Instead I mapped the B and A buttons to "Cockpit Interaction - Increase" and "Cockpit Interaction - Decrease". So I point at the control or switch (including 3way switches) and press A or B. Some switches (usually 2 state ones) still work with point and click, but the ones that don't (usually 3ways) work well with the A B method. Flaps are notably "backwards" since you "increase" them to lower them, but they're at least reliable and consistent now. I'd of course prefer to flip switches and slide sliders, but this provides a much more robust and reliable solution.
  19. Brought this to support Damiens efforts, will be interesting to play around with and see what value it adds
  20. Hate to hijack an old thread, but I’ve been having the same issue. Noticed midway through my flight earlier that the tiles downloading were erroring. Thought nothing of it, then went back to using Bing Maps. While attempting to look at Google Maps 3D view on my computer later in the evening however I was greeted by the blank satellite view like yourself. Seems it’s a technique on their end to stop people spamming requests on their servers, just not mentioned clearly enough that it could be an issue on the FAQ page of the mod.
  21. Any real pilot that doesn't check Metars before he takes off in my opinion, is an accident going someplace to happen.
  22. Haha luckily it is, since I spend more time in Norway than on the Executor nowadays 😉 Another opportunity for us to get to know her better! 😄 Thanks for the Beethoven story by the way, I learned something new today. Thanks! Of course I had to choose Norway's most famous composer, and one of his most well known compositions. He wrote it in 1875 for Henrik Ibsen's drama Peer Gynt, to act as background music. Some trivia from Wikipedia: En godt bevart hemmelighet!
  23. yes they do everywhere if the wx is acceptable , I almost only fly IFR aim not really a pilot just like pushing buttons and looking out of the window 😄
  24. I use the Asobo Caravan to practice procedures. I fly a Grand Caravan EX with a PT6 and G1000NXI IRL While the Asobo model is reasonably accurate, I'm wondering if there's any improvements out there that I'm not finding. There's plenty of "wants", but in particular, I'm most interested in... The ITT dance... In sim, the ITT just rises to the operational temp, while IRL, the ITT rapidly rises, slows it's roll and then settles back down to operating temp. Hot starts. The ability to overtemp and blow up the engine. Hung starts. Over-torque. The BlackSquare Caravan does a good job of all this, but it's (stanchly) steam gauge. I fly glass, so that doesn't help me. I also fly in VR, so I'd prefer something that still works in VR (one of the mods I tried killed the primary flight controls) It's not a deal breaker though. Is the Asobo Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX Realism Mod the "latest greatest"? Or is there something else out there? https://flightsim.to/file/52010/asobo-cessna-208b-grand-caravan-ex-realism-mod Thanks.
